I love Bud, but can't put him on Floyd's level. Not greater or better, IMHO.

You say Canelo didn't jab, feint or throw many punches because Crawford took them away. What you fail to mention is that Canelo started to abandon his jab and feints and has had a poor punch output long before he fought Bud.

The difference between peak Canelo and the Canelo who fought Bud is like night and day.

Since his fight with Bivol, Canelo has averaged 35 punches a round. The average middleweight and SMW punch output per round is approx. 55. His ability to cut the ring off is not the same because of his depleted stamina, particularly after the half way point of a fight. He is very much a low output plodder these days.

His style has massively changed. In his prime, Canelo was a supreme counter puncher with good head movement and he threw crisp combinations. His feinting was also top notch. He had so much subtlety to his game that made it hard for opponents to deal with. These days, he is pretty much a single shot power puncher who occasionally throws 2 punch combinations. He loads up on his shots with very little of the nuance and crafty feints he used to use. His upper body movement isn't what it used to be, either. He is predominantly a high guard fighter with little head movement compared to a few years back, and with very few counters thrown. These days he is essentially a more refined Arthur Abraham or Marco Huck; he is either defending exclusively or attacking exclusively with no smooth transition between the two that he had in his pomp.

Look, Bud performed well, but the Canelo he beat is nowhere near the level of peak Canelo, and I would also put the young Canelo Floyd fought above the Canelo that Crawford fought. Yes, the young Canelo was inexperienced, but the Canelo of today is a predictable one punch plodder with none of the guile and nuance that he used to have. He has aged, and unfortunately, fell in love with his power, so he just largely throws telegraphed single shots, these days. For all of Canelo's experience, he really doesn't use his head anymore and has regressed into a more predictable, basic and dumber fighter.

Terence Crawford surpassed Floyd Mayweather when he beat Canelo Alvarez

Just more greatness in terms of stepping up to challenge himself and overall dominance

Floyd was the ultimate cherry picker, and king of A side bull**** demands. If Crawford was a contemporary, Floyd would have ducked him. If they ever met, prime vs prime, I would take Crawford all day long.

I’d also put Usyk above Floyd. Usyk fought everyone and fought them in their own backyard. No A side bullshite, no dehydration clauses. Usyk gave up more size and fought on the road more than any fighter in history. Fans seem to forget that fact when Usyk enters the discussion.
