I love how Povetkin keeps getting written off over and over again....

It's part of the reason why I love him so much really. My favourite boxer.

People keep saying "Whyte will be more careful..."

Do me a favour and watch the KO moment again... WHYTE WASN'T BEING AGGRESSIVE. Povetkin was the aggressor, and still unlocked Whyte's defence.

Whyte is a strong favourite this time, again, and the bookies believe it's going to be a KO victory...

So does Whyte try the same tactics as last time and be defensive and stick behind that jab, and outlast Povetkin? Or does he go aggressive and try to wear out Povetkin, but take a great risk of being countered?

People are only giving Whyte the chance to learn because he's younger, but Povetkin can also reflect on his own performance.

I don't think Povetkin expected Whyte to be so defensive last time. Both Povetkin and Whyte can learn from the last fight they had.

If I had to bet, I'd say Whyte, but I cannot call this. Either could win. Write off Povetkin at your peril.

I honestly dont understand why it was considered such an upset the first time. Even an older Povetkin was always going to be a risky opponent for a guy at Whytes level. Not to mention Pov was coming off of a hard 12 rounds against the very underrated Hunter, a guy that could probably give Whyte problems too. Wont be surprising if Whyte gets sparked again.

Whyte got starched by a punch he didn't see coming. He was waiting for the left hook, Povetkin's money punch, and wasn't set for the uppercut.

Before that, to be fair, Whyte was dominating the fight and I thought he would have stopped Pov had the fight gone much longer.

The bookies are giving Povetkin more of a chance to KO Whyte this time. First time round you could get 6/1, maybe even 13/2. Now it's 7/2 or 4/1 at absolute best.

Yeah, love it, a great example of how boxing crosses national lines. Whyte is British; i'm British - fingers crossed he beats Whyte. He knows he can knock Whyte out now. Povetkin might be slipping, but he certainly won't be leaving it all in Burger King like Andy Ruiz did.

If I had to make a pick, I'd pick Whyte because Povetkin is a stupid age and has suffered with a serious illness since last they met, but it's one of those where after the fight it's going to seem absolutely obvious that the winner was going to win. Of course Whyte was going to beat that old guy. Of course Whyte was going to stiffen a guy he'd already blasted.

I think Whyte will be embarrassingly careful early. I think they'll be of the opinion that going late is everything. They'll try to avoid fireworks before 5. Their view will be that Povetkin will tire. Don't know how Povetkin's cardio is but presumably their plan will be in accordance with those test results.

This. If anything his legs were and endurance is shot but that power should have never been underestimated. The first couple of rounds in his fight with AJ was kind of a precursor to what happen in the first Andy Ruiz fight. If he had the ability to punch in combination like Ruiz he could have at least got a knockdown on AJ.

Dillian Whyte was the perfect opponent for this to happen to because as much as he want to be able to box behind his jab he can’t help but brawl a little. It’s why in almost all of his recent fights he’s touched the canvas. Povetkin just had a significant higher level of punching power than Parker and Rivas.

I really do not see what kind of skills former world class amateur superstar in Povetkin might have to " learn".
Pov was legit world top class amateur superstar and not his fault that he had fought in Klit era.

Exactly this is boxing not fans posts in forums and their idea. The Craft is to surprise.
32-35 y.o Pov had finished Whyte in 3 rounds and for me is not secret that even just 37 y.o Pov was really out of his prime. Not alone his older versions.

It was normally set up during long term and Whyte had been re automatised.
With such uppecrut Pov had dropped me even if he had landed on guard this stuff.
Pov skills really are undervalued and he put on Whyte ammy top level masterclass. Ammy = **** but this concussion was amateur masterclass from long years out of prime Povetkin.

Man, Povetkin has been slowing down and getting stiffer for years now.

He's very visibly past his best form. Given his blood and guts style, you expect him to lose against the best. It's what old fighters do. And yet despite me writing him off over and over he keeps winning.

    Love it.

I love how Povetkin fans conveniently overlook how he was getting bullied for that entire fight and had to scrape his old *** off the canvas twice in that fight before catching Whyte.
Povetkin will need to wear his medical alert necklace in the rematch in case he starts falling again. Don't think Whytes just gonna leave his chin all up in the air like that.

I've been a fan of Povetkin since 2006, and I think he's been an underrated fighter.

But Whyte will likely be on PEDs and Povetkin is getting old.

I'm not confident, but I'll be rooting for Povetkin. Nothing in boxing would please me more than his beating Whyte again.

You really are damn delusional internet poster with chip on shoulder. You had been bullied out of this forum if there were Povetkins fans.
    How old are you? Teen?

You really even are not capable to determine impactful beatup from guy being down. Boxing for you was Rocky films watching.

Nothing wrong, everyone here does know that Pov had been picked up for beatup cos he long years ago already was out of prime and he is small. Instead of expected easy night in the office he get finished by small shadow of Povetkin. Cold.
Your Whyte does have also liver too and posters like you never ever had get punch in the face by anyone who is knowing what he is doing. :D

My God. Great highlight reel comeback, but he was looking silly from the multiple times that he was placed on his shorts. How is it a shock to some that Whyte could be the favorite is strange.

Povetkin is shot but he still has his punch and Whyte's chin is no Rock of Gibraltar. Makes for another interesting night.

Povetkin was way past his prime when he lost to AJ at the age of 38 albeit still formidable and dangerous and he's declined markedly since then. We're talking about someone who took up boxing/kickboxing 28 years ago, won the junior world kickboxing championships in 1997, world kickboxing championships as a senior in 1999, and their first major boxing tournament in 2001 ie. he's been fighting at the top level in combat sports for a quarter of a century and with a very aggressive style too.

The decline from AJ to Hunter was noticeable but the decline from Hunter to Whyte was striking. He took a lot of punishment against Hunter and you don't typically see 40 y/o fighters at the tail end of a long and hard career involved in wars like that and I think that fight took a lot out of him and even if Povetkin hadn't contracted covid I would be expecting an even more declined version to show up than the one we saw last time.
