Troll thread, but still.... Watch more fights. I used to dislike the ground game too, because I didn't have any idea of what was happening. Now that I know a lot more about positioning and submissions, I enjoy the battle for position on the ground. Once you figure out what move a fighter is trying to progress towards, you find the battle interesting. But if you have no clue about the potential significance of a body triangle or underhook being achieved, or if you don't know the difference between a guillotine and a kimura, then of course you're not going to enjoy it because you have no knowledge base. But I will tell you one thing that is great about MMA, that boxing is total **** for. In major MMA cards, there are VERY FEW mismatches. You generally get a card with five competitive fights. Whereas boxing, you get a card that MIGHT have a competitive main event, and then you have 4 undercard mismatches with prospects beating up cans. In MMA you tend to get fights booked where both guys appear to be on more or less the same skill level. And if they're not, it generally didn't appear that way before they got in the cage. :hat
Did you really think that this comment warranted its own thread? It was uninteresting the first time you posted it in the other thread.
Why is it not interesting? I am just a fan who prefers it when guys are trading punches, rather than rolling around on the ground. While that might take skill, involve strategy, etc. - it is just boring to watch. I prefer it when guys are throwing BOMBS at each other.
To be expected from the casual fans.... I hope someday you will understand, appreciate and respect the Sport for what it is. If you do, you will appreciate grappling too. -BobDigi
I'm a blue belt, have grappled off and on for the past 10-15 years and I find grappling in general boring in fights. Unless they were Pride fights. The level of technical expertise on the ground back then was way above UFC.
There is a sport where they trade punches standing up and don't go to the ground. Just thought I'd let you in on the secret :good
Watch more women's MMA and it will make you enjoy the ground game. Start with Tate/Zingano from this past weekend and then Rousey/Carmouche and get back to me.
You are wrong. High level BJJ is a beauty to behold! It takes years and years to become decent at grappling... anyone can throw bombs with no skill :deal Lynchburg
I only watch MMA to see the Glass Jaws get shattered. There is very little skill or technique involved unless the lay and pray guys are fighting but who wants to watch that? Many of the fights resemble bar room brawls and that is exciting. :good
