I buy every PPV as soon as they come out. I have to save alot of money but its worth it because only the best of the best gets made into PPV. like watching holyfield the other night, I spilt my pop corn that was so exciting! or watching valuev vs haye, hopkins jones 2, etienne tyson, and this up coming wladimir vs dereick chisora, I dont even know who that is or where Baden-wurttenburg is but its gonna be the best, I just know it. People who watch boxing without paying are messed up because thats stealing, thats like stealing your neighbours car except...no its exactly like stealing your neighbours car, i wouldnt even be friends with people who do stuff like that. a boxer may have a match because he wants respect, to be a champion or internationally reknown but even after that fight is over, he does not own the rights to his fight, if you want to see the replay or have the rights to see the replay you must pay a company because they work with the PPV networks and they only show the best of the best on PPV. theyre looking out for the boxers and us the fans. the reason boxing is dying is because people are stealing theyre neighbours cars. I love PPV I cant wait for chisora oh and holyfield rematch in bahamas!!
PPV of the 80s were for super fights ppvs of now are for fights that cable or network wont buy or pick up.... its not like they are trying to sell you something that is better than what it is....its the only way a fight can hope to break even.....holyfield made 26 million for the tyson rematch on ppv... i dont think he made quite that much for sherman the tank
It's not necessarily the existence of PPV, it's the fact that all kinds of crap gets put on PPV. And that's because boxing has a hard time getting sponsors, particularly for network TV. No ESPN, no regular network TV, no HBO/Showtime....hey let's put this **** fight on PPV!! Or it's a fight that they just figure is "too big" for regular HBO so it's on PPV. PPV is a better viewing experience than Closed Circuit, which is how the big fights used to be shown. But it should only be big fights, good matchups, not Oscar De La Hoya/Manny Pacquiao/Floyd Mayweather, etc... vs. overmatched opponent.
Nevermind ESPN, there were world championship fights on ABC and CBS. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9rJRYVRz2A[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3B3kLNrF2tg[/ame]
