I LOVE the look of late 60's & early 70's fights!

I was commenting to a car mate today on the drive to a meeting how much I enjoy the old Technicolor movies from the late 50's and 60's. Beautiful pictures. I think some color fights from this era give the same impression.

I highly recommend a good color version of Johnny Famechon vs Fighting Harada. Bob Foster vs **** Tiger is another that comes to mind. Ali - Cleveland Williams, although in the Astrodome has a great look to it.

If you want to capture the atmosphere of big fights with great crowd anticipation and excitement, Patterson vs Chuvalo. Turned out to be fight of the year with Patterson winning a 12 round decision. I was at the fight.

    Love the plain ring

And really like the single man commentary

Now it sounds like 3 guys trying to get a word in

I love the emblems on the ring, the ring card girls majoring in communications at Fresno CC and the Golden Palace ads on the fighters' backs.

It is also interesting to see how the people at ringside dressed differently in the earlier days. Most of the men wore dark suits and ties. Much less formal nowadays.

I just watched the 79 Holmes vs Weaver fight that took place in the garden. You rarely saw the canvas at all! Such a contrast to today where the ring is covered in logos. Nice atmosphere at that fight!
