Talk about indicisive, the referee was asking him if he could go on and he had already left the corner, he looked afraid to tell margarito his team and the ref it couldent continue, to me it looked like he was trying to get as far from corner as he could while the ref was trying to get his attention and a yes or no. looked very unsure of himself, Margaritos trainer was persuading him to let it continue. Looked to me like a docter who dident have a clue wether it was enough to stop it or not?:think
Agree. They were not clear at all. From what I can tell they wanted it stopped but didn't want any heat from Marg's corner.
The doctors clearly wanted the fight stopped but they were in awe of the occassion and medically I'm quite sure they didn't want to give him that one more round. When he wanted another final round, I think they knew something bad could happen but were still a little flustered. A doctor is the only one in the building with the real medical knowledge. If he is certain in his knowledge and decision then he should call it and really no one can argue because we aren't doctors.
If Margo's eye wasn't smashed to bits against Pac they'd of let that fight go on but i'm glad they stopped it and looked for the best interests of the fighter,sport and there profession. They obviously felt more punishment in final 3 rounds could of caused to more long term damage it was safer to stop it then and there and evaluate after plus he was losing the fight wide and maybe the doc's thought **** it he may be willing to die but he ain't dying on my watch., I like what NY commission's decisions they seem to be conscious and protective of the sport in there state which likes of Texas aren't.
They did what they had to do, It wasn't there fault the promoter billed a show, sold tickets before getting the license. Margarito was fit to fight according to the physicians who examined him. Why should the doctor bear the weight of a man going blind just to allow the fight to go 3 rounds longer? cos that's what could of happened if it continued. One of many possible outcomes to that eye. The doctor IMO did what was right, Margarito had no defence to the shots and another 9mins of punishment may have caused another problem to eye. If we took the attitude of your post no fights would be made, they managed the fight well considering the injury and the potential damage.
they were clear. the older doc clearly said no fights over thats it, then left his assistant doc to deal with the situation, he then proceeded to **** himself, they kicked up a stink, then he came to his senses and stopped it. smoger being a daft ****er doesnt help things. he makes them touch gloves and then says to them "get the **** outa here" ?
If they were that concerned about his eye they should have had him checked out earlier than a week before the fight.
No, They may have allowed him to spar and go through camp allowing the eye to take some punishment before examining. They did a good job making sure the fight went ahead whilst remaining ethical. They have every right to be concerned but examining ages before the fight doesn't make a difference IMO. NY State Commission impressed me a lot more then Texas and co who seem rather lenient.
It goes to show (as so often has been the case) that when a part of the face is badly injured it will always be prone to further injury in the future. Margo may never be able to stop that area from blowing up after some solid punches.
The older doc clearly said that it was over. Even farhood in commentary knew the doc had called it off. Only person who seemed oblivious to it was smoger
:deal Bunce said before the fight IIRC he's a camera ref and he is. He just played on the situation IMHO.
