Yup. Sounds like such a basic thing, but it's a what separates a boxer from a fighter

 I don't know if there has ever been a more hyped mediocre fighter than Eubank. Poor footwork. No defense. Minimal infighting ability. He holds with his left hand, and just throws rights on the inside. This is one of the biggest exposures that I've seen in a long time.

I m not sure if everyone's aware of it...but eubank can't throw a straight right hand due to a long standing injury that's hampered him for years now. He can't extend the arm to throw a straight right hand. Hence the lack of straight shots.

People keep criticizing his technique etc...but I,d love to see anyone try fighting without a straight right hand. He basically has to follow a jab....with a right hook or uppercut. He has no other options.

Hence why he throws them too far out. He can't control the distance on the outside with no straight right hand. There's
really two main punches from the outside...jab. Straight right hand. Without a straight right he won't be effective fighting on the outside.

He doesn't jab his way in because without the threat of a straight right hand he,d get countered. Hence the bullrushing with hooks/uppercuts.

To get inside...you get openings from the outside. And work your way in. The problem is how do you fight on the outside with no straight right hand. He's predictable in that he needs to fight inside.

You need to be comfortable fighting on the outside...to get openings on the inside. Anything else is too predictable at the level he's trying to fight at. The way I see it...eubanks careers over without fixing that elbow injury. And its why he fights how he does. His style is actually a contingency plan.

Young Christopher could've done with having that baseball bat handy on Saturday night, because precious little else was working for him against Groves. And he'll need it if he ever fights David Benavidez or Ronald Gavril. Good Lord!

Here is the verse to that song you didn't hear:

    After getting schooled
He said, "I wanna fight Truax:
My team should make that fight for me."
    I'm tryin'a cherry pick
My way right up to number one
    Although I'll get no sympathy

...And from swinging a baseball bat around like he was Joe DiMaggio. That always helps.

Or a feint, or a left hook, or a double jab, or a jab to the body, or an overhand right, or a short right to the body, or a hard jab. Plus he wasn't even winning on the inside, Groves made him look like an idiot on the inside a lot of time.

Plus that's more reason to work on slipping on the way in, feints, footwork.

Look at that in context tho..hes fighting George groves. No one beats groves on the outside. Not only does groves have an excellent jab...he also has an excellent straight right hand...ready to go. Eubank had to get inside. You have to be pretty special at that level to get away with a left hook off the jab especially against someone like groves. Pretty sure eubank was actually feighnting his jab on Saturday night. Its almost impossible to control things/distance with a jab without a straight right tho. You can jab and move but its counterproductive in that he needs to get inside. Look at groves he controls distance with his footwork, jab and straight right hand. Take away either one of them...he won't
be able to control distance. The straight rights pretty much the most important one in controlling distance. Its the one that stops them walking you down.

Eubank can't fight on the outside without a straight right. If you can't fight on the outside your gonna struggle to get on the inside regardless. You get your angles from the outside. Anything else is too predictable...at that level.

Hes neglecting these things people are flagging up for a reason. They won't do him much good. With just a jab on the outside....he cant even successully stand in range. How do you then transition from their onto the inside. That's where his problems coming from.

Look at froch. He fought comfortable on the outside. Had that long reach left jab. With the right behind it. What got him inside was the opponent not knowing when he was going inside. They know eubanks not comfortable on the outside without that straight right hand...very very few would be. He has no option but to get inside...straight away hes too predictable for that level.

They have neglected it...he has just worked on his strengths. I don't think they,ve done that through ignorance tho. They know he can work on footwork all day every day...he,ll still struggle to get inside...without being comfortable on the outside. He can't really fight in range without a straight right...he,s trying to counteract it by missing out the transition.

I m a groves fan btw. Not speaking from a fan of eubank perspective.
