But yeah am I the only one who thinks Dirrel can stay away frome Abe for 12 rounds and win? I think that will be a great bet...

yeah its different when you have cash on the line

its amazing how it effects your brain. I try to do it the same way I play chess, look at the guy you are betting against and make the best case for him winning and the best case for betting on him, just as in chess you look at your opponent's position and try and think of his best moves and weaknesses

but the fact that you got money on something can rationalize away your objectivity and cloud your mind

I dn't think that happened here too badly, but I better start doing better this was a bad loss, the worst

I thought Ward should have been 5 to 1 underdog so I made the bet. He was hurt and knocked down by two low level fighters in the first year of his career and had no signature wins over top guys at 68. Miranda went the distance with him and I questioned both Ward's chin and his power. On the other side was a guy that had fought at the elite level for a long time, and had a great deal more fight experience. Ward hadn't been in against even a B+ level super middle. Ruben was way past it and never the top dog and although Miranda got the nod vs Green in a shaky one, he had been wrecked by Abraham and Pavlik and had rocky times against the likes of Eastman, yet survived and even stalked Ward at times.

I honestly don't know that Kessler would lose with a neutral ref, but as a bettor I should have factored that in as well, I thought I did but I underestimated the bias of the ref and also, Ward's skill set and Kessler's inability to adjust.

At the end of the day I got to take it on the chin and learn from my mistakes, but I think my main error wasn't in my assessment of the fighters as much as disregarding the ref as a factor.

Would Ward win with a neutral ref? I don't know. I honestly don't know. Maybe that means I am a fool that stands to lose a lot more money. Ward fought well on the inside and got some great shots in but that wasn't the only story of the fight.

I think what really confuses me is I don't think I have ever scene Ward fight like this before, with the holding and intentional butts and even low shots. I think Kessler was shocked at this as well, but he didn't adjust and pull a Froch.......

anyways it just sounds like sour grapes

WARD WON ALL HAIL THE SON OF GOD
GLORY BE TO THE ALMIGHTY ANDRE WARD

:rofl Jesus christ. Next time factor in to your bets that Kessler had no upper body movement and that he cant handle the jab or being swarmed like I said in my post. Infact just be me, and you wont lose another bet.

Thats a perfect rationalization. Makes me almost feel foolish for backing Ward.

But i consistently back slick counter-punchers over predictable, upright boxer-punchers, unless given reason not to. I also felt Kessler's power was about as overrated as Ward's defence was underrated. And really man, Ward beats Kessler 9/10 times.

Either way though, i feel for you about the bet, it obviously was a large chunk of change.

Hate to kick a man when he's down. But you bought into the ESB hype train. Shame on you. I would never risk $1,000 on a one-dimensional robot like Kessler.

Imagine if you put that 1,000 on Ward. You'd have over 2,000 right now..

Damn, Ward's headbutts are awesome, esp. the huge one that was copied from a billy goat. It's a good thing Ward had his referee.

I think the one headbutt is the hardest head butt I have even seen and clearly on purpose.

I can understand why Ward wanted his referee in his hometown. Ward will not fight anyone anywhere except in his hometown. Kessler was stupid for allowing such crap. I predicted the cheating and got even more than I thought.
