I made two posts about this this week. There is some kind of information leak from Martinez's camp (maybe a doctor/official both guys checked in with). They KNEW Martinez's knee was ****ed. No way you just put a career 140lber against a MW like that. He had ZERO head movement that fight, his hallmark was his bobbing and weaving and coming back with combos, something that puts a ton of strain on your lead knee.

I woke up after everyone, to watch the fight this morning, avoiding lookin at the results. Even during an initial stretch before the fight he stretched straight down like he normally does and you can see his left knee straighten our BUT NOT his right knee. Anyone who has ****ed up their joints in running will know this is a visible sign of pain. He was in visible pain just warming up. I think his entire approach was to try to bully Cotto around with his size, but that didn't work. Cotto if you noticed, smartly, did not allow him to work on the inside or tie up, he took a step back as to not expend energy. It's almost as he expected the strategy of size and bullying, because of an injury. Not a single memorable clean punch landed, not a single hook landed.

This was a travesty for the sport of boxing. How can a guy who was begging to get a knee brace even be allowed to fight? Boxing is shitt. Not sour grapes. Good on Cotto for making history and Maravilla for getting his paycheck, but clearly MONEY IS king when it comes to the sport of boxing and feeding its overgrown network and state bureacracies.

Someone who described HBO selling this as a lemon was right on.

Completely agree. This is disgraceful to his fan base. Bittersweet loss to what could have been an ATG. Dude should have taken better care/lower impact exercises on his joints. Joint injuries are usually from poor footwear/technique/not resting.

He really should not of got a clean bill of health to fight. His legs were so bad they did not even allow him punch properly.

It was pretty sad to witness.

Well, Zetsui, I have to give you credit. I didn't pick up on this. I should have known when Atlas made his pick because guys like Atlas often get inside information that the public is not privy to. What was the betting line on this fight and at any point did it change noticeably?

His knee was bad, but getting got so soon with a huge hook caused problems for him. Then the body work. It was tough, no question his knees bothered him, but it happens. I'm the biggest Cotto fan, but I couldn't celebrate the win. So sad for Maravilla.

That Knee operation was like a year ago. Why is it still bad? I don't know if that operation worked well. I think the whole tough guy culture of boxing got the better of him. He probably should have noticed it enough in sparring to question it but he's got managers/trainers/promoters probably pushing him on for the money and you know he has a big fighting spirit too so it's tough for him to say no.

If you are running in huge ass soles, with poor technique, you don't think you will be injured again?
