I may be in the minority, but I don't mind Canelo vs Chavez JR

Don't get me wrong, I would rather see GGG vs Canelo everyday of the week, but I see Canelo vs Chavez as interesting. Providing Chavez can make 165 OK I see him giving Canelo trouble. Canelo throughout his whole career has had the size advantage, he doesn't get that against Chavez and also, while Chazez is no where near as skilled, he does have good punch output and works the body well. If Canelo's cardio and work rate do not improve with the lessened weight cut, then Chazez is a live dog. I could see a Cotto vs Margarito 2.0

Anyone else kinda like this fight?

Urghhh. It's like, yeah I get you - it might actually be an OK fight, but somehow it makes my soul feel dirty just admitting that.

Nobody minds the fight itself, especially he fights GGG afterwards.

Going all the way up to 165 for no more money than the GGG fight does make look a bit cowardly though.

Don't get me wrong, I would rather see GGG vs Canelo any day of the week, and I get what you mean. But I think it could be a decent scrap.

I'm disgusted with catchweight cash grabs and Chavez wouldn't prep Canelo for Golovkin so it's not the fight we should be getting, but yeah it would be fun to watch.

Chavez Jr. Would receive a brutal beating by Canelo. I'll watch... the same way we watch like accident videos.

I've wanted to see this match for a few years now, while it may be a few years too late, its better late than never, and I agree with everything you said.

This is a decent fight to take in prep for Golovkin too, I think, Chavez is the first opponent Canelo will face where he is at a size disadvantage and Chavez will be coming for him, with a good chin and throwing bombs for as long as his cardio holds up. I think Canelo will stop him though, stylistically Chavez will probably run into power shots like Kirkland. GGG would probably threaten to disarm Canelo with the jab moreso than Chavez could ever do.

You are right! Chavez could be a live underdog. Don't forget that chin! This is why I don't want the fight to happen. Chavez could spoil the 3G/Canelo fight later on in the year. After the 3G fight, would be better.
