I may be in the minority but I have Groves beating DeGale

First m8 I would say get ur ****in left hand up ur not David Haye. He has a good jab but losses that mili second from it reaching the target because its so low. Other than that I think he is a good boxer just not in Degale league.

 

James Degale won't drop a round to George Groves. Paul Smith would of gave George Groves a fight, and James Degale messed around with him.

I'm not even a James Degale fan, but he will **** George Groves up.

George Grooves looked terrible against that "Brave African" the other week.

I don't know weather this is part of Adam Booth's mind games.

But Grooves looked really really ****.

 

I agree with everything you say there.

The thing I always wonder about trainers is.. they are clearly very very intelligent about the sport and know the game inside out. They are boxing historians and usually have had long careers themselves. So when one of their fighters is put up against a better skilled fighter, how do they go through the motions of preparing their fighter for a fight that they know he is quite outclassed in. Like, if Arnie was training Groves and the Degale fight was coming up, how would you conduct yourself? Obviously you would not let on to Groves that you think he is going to lose? I mean, he does have a chance in the fight due to his power, plus Degales chin is untested.

I guess it's just a case of training the boxer the best you can and giving him the best gameplan he can utilize.

It's just fascinating to me how trainers can go through the motions like that and prepare their fighter for a fight that they pretty much know he will lose and is outclassed in. Does the trainer delude himself into thinking his charge has more of a chance than he does? That's hard to believe because the trainers obviously know lots and lots about the sport and can analyze styles and fighters.

Hmm, maybe I haven't made much sense in this post. Just thinking out loud.

 

He just hasnt evolved or improved. He is still just an explosive wild puncher. If he can get his timing and range together then it could be good but it just looks like DeGale has been improving each fight and by now DeGale seems more settled in a more developed style.

It's a 50-50 fight though as they are both talented, flawed but need the right strategy and smarts to win over 12.

Glad to see the Brit and C'Wealth unified in a fight like this. Great for British boxing and should get the necessary hype.

 

I don't see Groves winning at all.

I honestly think DeGale is a class above.

 

Everything that Groves has plays into DeGale's hands. DeGale will never force a fight. Groves will, mistakes will follow and DeGale will counter him until the ref has had enough. Groves will have his aggressive moments but they'll be the kind that DeGale will find funny.

Groves is not as good as he thinks he is. He's an accident waiting to happen.

 

I thought groves last year but i now believe degale will look excellent against him, ending it around the eighth

 

Arnie most people see DeGale winning very easy on this forum.

I think thats wrong. DeGale is getting big time over rated. you could see last night he has little power.

I favour DeGale but its a very very competitive fight.

 

isn't there a theory that the left hand being low makes the jab quicker as the opponent cannot see it.....plus DeGale doesn't exactly have his hands like Arthur Abraham.

 

Heres the problem with groves beating Degale.

Groves is one dimensional

Degale is not

Degale will come in with a gameplan specifically tailored to beat groves, if it doesnt work, degale will adjust in the ring

groves will come with what he always comes with

 

George Groves does not know who he is.....

He mimics David Haye's manerisms inside of the ring, and trys to speak like Adam Booth.

He's ****ed, totally ****ed.

 

Weve seen Degale in with competition who are clearly a level below him so hes never been threatened. If they win a second of a round its due to Degale more than them he hasnt even come a step towards being troubled yet.

people don't seem to realise just how glaring groves inadiquacies are

 

To be honest the more time goes by the less enthusiasm i have for this fight and i had alot at one point. I'd pick Degale by "Frank Warren stoppage " but they've both got a lot to prove . Groves is clumsy and pedestrian and if i left degale in a wet paper bag overnight he'd still be there in the morning .
If if the fight was made and i was Groves trainer i'd just say accept the defeat and try and rough him up as much as you can , hurt him and make him look bad .
Degale has talent and very quick hands but no power (yes he stopped Dilks and Smith but Smith could have gone the distance ). Groves IMO is being pushed into before he's ready by Adam Smith who's on an ego trip .
Watching Booth pushing this fight is to my mind a bit distasteful . He'll get to go on the telly and do his eye rolling mugging routine and Groves will get a nasty 12 round beating (if Groves is lucky then it will be stopped by the Ref at some random point )
Anyway thats my thoughts
