Both of these stories actually show a great deal of restraint on Jake's part. If somebody slapped me in the face like that I would not have reacted so calmly, and I don't consider myself to be a hothead. However, Jake LaMotta did get punched in the face for a living, so therein lies the difference. I guess a fey actor slapping him was probably the least of his miseries.
Ha ha ha. I did the same thing when Dave MacAuley was getting interviewed by BBC at the end of the Bassa 2 fight in the corner in the ring ha! You can see Eastwood looking at me to tell me to f**k off. Anyways, great story RSN and im profoundly jealous you had him to yourself. I would love to have asked him a million questions but the reality ias that i would have probably clammed up. fair play to ya:good
exactly right - the guy didn't have the first clue - I was thinking the whole time it's no wonder boxing doesn't get any halfway decent mainstream press these days - with guys like that ass reporting on it - what made me laugh was right at the end of him doing his interviewing Lamotta said something in his fiances ear and she turned round and said to the newspaper man completely innocently and a little sheepishly, "excuse me can I just ask who your are??" and then I heard her say "oh your from the newspaper?!! I think they thought I was the one from the newspaper!! haha - when I was asking Jake about bob satterfield and holman williams that newspaper guy was looking on without even an interest - I don't think he even knew who I was on about!! atsch
I attended the lastnight of 'Black History Month' in Burton On Trent (which Neville Brown was meant to attend but didn't) a few nights before which was part organised by a work mate of my brother - and she is big buddies with former British Heavyweight champ Clifton Mitchell from Derby who usually organises all the big boxing nights/shows in Derby and her husband told me all about it - he'd been to the same hotel two weeks previous where there was an Evening With Roy Jones Junior!! Wish I'd known that was happening - am going to get the lowdown from the hotel about what other boxing nights they're staging over the coming months aswell because they're awesome - I'll maybe PM you if hear of any other legendary nights coming up there in the future - the lady that works with my brother gets to find out in advance usually - her husband (a former BBC radio DJ) has seen the likes of Tyson, Tim Witherspoon, Nigel Benn, Frank Bruno and Steve Collins at the same venue in days gone by
I nearly did get kayoed by him toward the end of the night - after virtually everyone had left me and one other guy hung about to chat somemore with Jake - think the guy was getting a bit worn out by that time - and I asked him to pose for one last pic with me - feigning uppercutting me under the chin !!! He was like  and he goes "YOUR CRAZY!!" I said to him "Jake Lamotta has just called me crazy!! That is the best!!"
