    For all you Naz fans.......

I was walking through the lounge at the jumeirah beach hotel
last night and guess who was there tucking into a chicken Salad.

    NAZ HAmed.

I said hello and sat next to him in the lounge.

We started talking about the "Weather" boring i know then I squirmed a few boxing questions which he more than happily answered.

    I asked the following.

    1.Why retire after BArrera/Calvo

He said that due to SEP 11th there was a lot of tension and HBO were reluctant to renew at the time. Also he said he wasnt making the money as he lost his sponsorship deal with addidas. He felt victimised because of his religion, Addidas didnt think a Muslim dawning their clothes was good at the time.

HE had his 2nd son who he wanted to spend time with.

    2. I never asked him about prison (thought id get smacked).

    3. Naz didnt look as fat as recent pics ....keep eating the salads!!!

He was a gent throughout and gave me a hug!

Im not a huge Hamed fan after his prison time, but I think he acknowledges it and may teach him to respect life a little more.

Did Adidas say they didnt think having a Muslim donning their clothes was good at the time or is this another load of paranoid **** made up by an over-sensitive Muslim? I know what my money is on.

If DLH-Pac can't be made, what about Pac-Hamed at 147?!!

    Should have asked him that.

yes thats right. if it was true surely a huge international sportwear firm with outlets in every muslim country in the world would publically announce that they didn't want their clothes to be associated with muslims. :nut

So you believe Adidas told Hamed or his agent/associates, "sorry we dont think it is a good idea to have a muslim promoting our clothes in the current climate" ?!!! Are you for real?

You don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility that the american wing of adidas didn't want an openly muslim fighter in their clothes? C'mon, America is the most xenophobic country in the west. I doubt they said that to him, and him losing is probably more likely but it was still probably a factor.

Possibly a factor, but that is beside the point. He should be able to prove it to say it, otherwise it is assumption, and a libellous assumption at that.

Damn, guys! The guy was just sharing an interesting story and I'm sure he didn't think to ask for proof. He was just making conversation and repeated what Naz had told him. That doesn't mean that there were other reasons that Adidas cancelled his contract, but the reason he gave was highely likely considering the time period it happened. They are a business after all, and it's always about the bottom line.

The reason he quit was because he got exposed by Barrera and had made alot of money to walk away.
He couldn't be bothered to train anymore and seemed to have fallen out of love with the sport.
HBO or adidas were never going to pay him that much again after Barrera.

There was a documentary about Naz building up before the Barrera fight and he was surrounded by people that would never argue with him and he was delusional.

You have totally missed the point i was making.

What im saying is, i totally believe Naz said it. And i totally believe it to be total bollocks. Because there is no way in hell Adidas would have said that to him or his people. Assuming or guessing this to be their motive is probably what happened.
