Basically a round robin where the best fought the best and in the end the best fighter in the weight class was revealed. One of the best things to ever happen in boxing. I know there was some criticism because it took too long (only took about 2 years), but I was curious what exactly was the rush? For the tournament to end, and the promoters go back to cherrypicking who their fighter fights until a big payday comes along?

let's pray that Showtime takes advantage of GBP's super stacked 140 division and does something similar.

The problem was the back plans for the fighters that had pulled out due to injury .

The super6 was amazing. Great for boxing. Should be done again in any other division. If the Super6 had not taken place, not even 50% of those relevant match ups would have taken place.

It forced the best at super middle to eventually face each other. every division needs this so we can get back to undisputed champs !

Loved the super 6. The best thing about the super six is that the two guys that made it to the top of the tournament grew immensely as fighters. This was especially important for Froch. He did it all wrong in the kessler fight but he had an immediate chance to make up for it, with a world championship fight in his next fight. The result was a career defining performance. By consistently fighting the best these guys really had to up there game. Andre ward now looks like twice the fighter that was going punch for punch with Miranda before the Tourney started. Bute, who was probably the best fighter in the division when the tourney started didn't improve or change in the two years the tournament took place and we saw how that went for him.

As for Showtime making a tourney with GBP's stable of fighters I'm of two minds on this one. Showtime was able to do the tourney because they didn't have to suck up to a big promoter in order to get one of that promoter's big stars on their roster. GBP is in the manufacturing opponents for floyd business right now. You could make an argument that a tourney would be a great way to create a big star for floyd to fight. The only problem would be that with the round robin format it would take so long to do finish that it might not be worth it. Just having a Mexican guy like Guerrero fight a bunch of plodders he can out maneuver or out hustle is a much faster easier way to legitimize an opponent. They might have a couple of match-ups that they try to call a tourney but I highly doubt we'll see 6 of the best sign up to a random draw/round robin/points style tournament like the super 6.

Thats the thing about it, if that didnt happen hardly any of them fights would have happened its hard to appreciate it properly because the fights did happen, but thinking about a super 6 in another weight division you realise how it made the best fight the best

great event and it showed who is who at 168. If not for the tourney we would have had a lot of overhyped guys running around, NOT TO MENTION the boneheads who support them writing threads and claimimg Kessler was the best as he fought Euro bum after Eurobum claiming a lot of unmerited hype. The tourney cleaned up all that ****. I have Ward s P4P #! in boxing ahead of Mayweather. I find Ward boring but he is at his Peak and is unmatched currently at his weight. Not popular on ESB.

Great idea, too many injuries, took too long, too many alternates.

Took about 2 years, that's about the same time it would take for someone to totally sweep a division's titles (and with no tune ups!)
