tito best fight for me was the fight with vargas, mayorga and who can forget what he did to jopppy.man that was the funny as hell, i use to get hi and watch that fight and just **** all over the place. tito vs mosley dont know why it was neva made. tito vs jermain taylor you can thank hopkins for that. tito his my fav rican fighter. he was lanky as hell but had rocket launchers on his arms or something. ps what does winky have to do with tito.that was a bad matchup and a prime winky.
Triniwraps Vs Hoya 2 should have happened. You guys are forgetting how Hoya and Tito acted pretty much like Manny/Floyd are acting right now to make the fight.
Boxing still had the same problems as today, but I don't remember so many dry spells as there have been recently. This trend has been around for a while, but it's getting worse. It seemed during that time there was a good boxing match every few weekends or back to back, lots of hype and build up. A lot more fights were accessible on HBO which still costs money, but not as bad as PPV. I actually wanted to buy the PPV's offered at that time. Especially when I was watching Tito the build-up was electrifying and I would get nervous because I didn't know who was going to win. He was definitely pushing himself to the limit and calling out the best fighters he had no business entering the ring with. Today a lot of the fights are pretty easy to call and we pretty much have to excite ourselves with ****-talking!
Both had already by that point proven themselves a little more willing to take all comers than either Pacquiao or Mayweather today, don't you think?
Ofcourse no doubt about that. All im saying is that the 90's werent exactly the golden years that this thread is making them out to be. Boxing Drama queens existed way before Mannyweather with their crazy demands.
i was born in 81, so it took me about to the 90's to get a real good understanding of the sport.for me it was golden yrs. my boy floyd was kicking ass rjj was the best fighter ever tyson was still a monster tito was ko machine and you could keep going and going. i did not have the internet at the time, so haters were not even born yet lol.
Sure it's true what you say. 90's wasn't golden, but it was a little bit better. The height for fans and competition was probably in the 60's/70's/80's because champions fought more often and was offered on radio and basic television. In the 90's and early 00's there was more access to fights than today. Not so many PPV's and at the end of the day 1&2 fought each other in their prime. Rarely do 1&2 operate in the same weight class. If Pac and May make the fight happen they definitely are not operating in their prime and their demands are probably the most outlandish in a while. There is still a lot to look forward to today, but it's getting harder to be fan without getting squeezed out by other sports coverage and finances.
I miss Tito. I miss Tito's generation. :deal As awesome as Tito was he one of many, and I mean that in the highest form of compliment.
