I weigh 167 pounds exactly and i usually fight around 141(light welterweight) and i walk around 148-150 but i got into an accident and was injured and couldnt train for months and that is where i started eating crap and and doing nothing and got to 167. I want to be able to lose the fat and keep it off and be where i was. Please tell me whats the best way to do it because i am back in the gym and have a small tourney in september and i want to be ready but i feel the fat is going away very slow.
He said he wanted to lose fat, not water. Stop eating junk and do regular cardio exercise. 4 months is plenty of time to get in shape.
I use to cut weight like this back in my high school wrestling days. But its only cause I had to cut weight in 2-3 week notice. But if you got 4 months than your boxing training and road-work should work well.
You cant de-hydrate for 4 months. Try to cut on all liquids except water. The key here is calories in vs calories out. Only water 2-3 hours from bed time. Obviously, drop junk food of any kind. Workout wise, Endurance workout is the key. 45 min+ jogging 4 times a weak, at least 6 punching bag rounds(not full intensity or else you will never make it). Strictly to cut weight, you dont really need a gym(it helps though). Jogging is your bread and butter(ironic i know) of cutting weight. Once you dropped around 140, then you can start working on all boxing workouts and slack the jogging to 2 times a week. As for not eating crap, a few tricks When jogging, dont bring any money, so your not tempted on the way to eat crap when your done If you live with roommates or parents who buy calories intense food(coke, chips), you should put them in a ''forbidden closet'' where only your friends and family are allowed to open. Not that its locked or anything, but its purely mental on the fact that ''i cant open this''. good luck, and believe me, its not that hard and it dosent have to take forever either. 2 months and you can be done. It leaves you 2 more months to work out the boxing.
Cutting weight and actually losing weight are two completely different things! No one should be cutting unless they are desperate and it's near a fight. Just work out and get in fighting shape and worry about what your weight is when you actually get close to getting a bout. No one should be dehydrating if they are trying to train hard and be the best they can be. It's counter productive to your workouts and your fitness, and not to mention dangerous and hard on your heart and your brain. You should really never let yourself get more than 5-8 lbs over what your fighting weight is in the first place. But if you do, due to lack of discipline, (or injury, in this case) then take the time to get back in shape and actually lose the weight the right way. Then keep it down.
