I need help on losing fat!

    ummm... from what i have studied at school aerobic training burns around 50% fat for energy, whereas anaerobic only burns 40% fat for energy.

    so in comparison anaerobic is better for using energy as aerobic is better for burning fat

    You are wrong. High intensity burns more LBM and carbs. You cut weight faster but you cut much of the weight you want to keep. Moderate cardio with your HR in 120-130 range is best for burining fat. The guy has a long time to drop this weight, best if he does it slowly and not by some quick fix like a rubber suit or running till he drops dead.

    Wow, 3 people actually fighting for long runs over sprints for fat loss?

    It's been proven over and over, many many many articles on this on the net, HIIT > slow cardio for fat loss!
    Look it up.
    Basically it comes down to two things.
    One, your body is primed and burns calories (MAINLY FROM FAT) for a long time after you finish your exercise, while slower cardio only burns calories during the workout (both fat and muscle).
    Think about it - with a sprint, your body is straining a lot of your muscles in the movement. So, it shifts the fat to get better at sprinting.
    Long runners - need less weight altogether, so it gets rid of both fat and muscle (to an extent, you won't become a stick overnight or anything).

    Bull****. High intensity cardio is around 9x more effective at burning fat while maitaining lean mass.

    High intensity vs Low intensity is so vague that one needs to clarify.

    Of course High intensity burns more, but it depends on how long you can keep it up. You jog at moderate speed(not moving the arms a lot, not pushing the cardio big time) 1km and walking 1 km, you will lose almost the same amount of cals. Its just pure physics. Of course, the jogging will take WAY less time.

    If u have the will to keep up high intensity 5-6 days a week, do it. But if u know you know high intensity will kill u and u will only work out 2-3 times a week, your better off with a lower intensity that you can keep up more.

    Did you read what I said in my previous post? If HIIT is 9x more effective then you obviously don't need to do it as often. 2-3 HIIT sessions per week is far superior to long distance runs 4-5x a week.

    Are many on here saying roadwork is pointless? the method of training countless world champions have used and not to mention long distance running gives you greater endurance in my opinion then sprinting.

    Anyone denying the value of roadwork does not know what the **** they're talking about. They've spent too much time reading scientific studies on this sort of thing and less time actually doing it.

    Personally, I like to mix in sprints and early-morning roadwork. At the end of my run there is a big hill... I sprint to the top of it as fast as I can. If I still feel jacked up, I'll do it again.

    Both sprints and long-distance runs are good for you. Do both.

    When trying to lose fat while maintaining lean body mass, yes.

    defintly.

    low intensity means a non stop but continous approach
    th idea is that the work ethic will sweat and wokr out that way.

    high intesnsity means a high 'burst' of action and excersise then stop to rest and then repeat.


    if there was a middle intensity i would take that. as a lot of movement with some burst and then rest seems to get a bit of both worlds.

    just working out means you will get rid of that tire. just avoid wieghtlifting...not becuase it is bad for you (some old school trainers say) but becuase you dont want that extra wieght you already have the muscles your just difining them.

    well it's cheap and its better to get that fresh air:D

    but seriuosly people are forgetting that you can train your upperbody to a lean machine but your legs will still have a bit more fat...it was a reaosn why joppy was so heavy for a small man. at 5'9 he had a good physique but didnt do that much running.
    adrian dodson aswell was a 5'10 welter when he was an amatuer but ran less and became heavier...in the end of his career he was a light heavy (technically a cruiser because he didnt make the 174 limit). point is that he was still had in good shape and didnt look that much different form his amatuer self.

    same with me, i have thick legs :hey....that takes alot of my wieght im 5'8 and wiegh at 165 pounds(just wieghed myself i wiegh 170 :patsch)....when i was boxing i used to run 6 miles easy then wieghed 150 odd pounds after light training. and even now im not that fat. it's usually water and fat in your legs, ass and other parts of the body that you dont train much (no jokes here please)


    anyways running sweats you lower body and uses your legs basicly. you can do other stuff to help out but running is the cheapest and best way to exercise....it's proven

    If you can prove anything you just said I'd like to see it. You can train your upper body to be lean but your legs will still be fat? What the hell are you talking about?
