If you've had any fruit you've had well over 10 grams of carbs you clown. You need at least 130 grams a day just for basic brain function, your brain can only use glycogen for energy. If you don't get those carbs your body will break down protein tissue in your body to make glycogen.
So depending on how calorie deprived you've been and how little carbohydrate you've taken in your metabolism may have been slowed down a little or a lot.
There's nothing wrong with eating grains, who cares if you rely on them? Most nutritionists would say that's a good thing.

    Totaaly agree with this post.
However lefty if the op isnt calorie deprived will his metabolism still lower? Im trying the paleo diet and don't think im getting 130g of carbs.
And to the op i don't think you will gain weight if u reintroduce carbs like people on the atkins do so don't worry

If you're not calorie deprived it won't affect your metabolism, a lack of carbs might actually speed it up as you'll be using a lot of protein for energy. If you're doing intense exercise that could be a problem because your body temperature will be raised and you won't have the stores of readily available glycogen to draw from.
In my opinion the paleo diet is good for sedentary people or people who do light exercise, not for an athlete unless they really know what they're doing.

i recently posted in another thread about carbs.

After a few weeeks, i have now witnessing successful weight loss. My opinion is that low carbs are NOT the answer. You just need to eat the right carbs:

    fruits
    oats
wholegrain nuts and beans (also rich in protein)
    brown rice
    etc............

just eat it in moderation, you will still feel strong and eventually lose weight if you train hard. WHen i replaced my bad carbs with good carbs - the change was painful, but after i got used to it the results started to pick up.

    Not necessarily true.

OP - I would find eating no carbs in a day highly unlikely...

I know they've discovered glucose production from fatty acids, but only in plants. I wasn't sure if they've established that humans are capable of this as well. It's probably some indirect and convoluted biochemical pathway, and that may be the reason it's not yet known if it is indeed true.

Essentially it allows for the body to maintain blood glucose levels before the brain begins to use Ketones. So yes and no. Ketosis then avoids the breakdown of protein. Good for a boxer - no, healthy - not really, good for weight loss - yes.
