so my situation is ,im a roofer and more days than not i have a hard time eating very much food.i believe its cause i get to hot.so im not eating but a meal or 2 a day but thats not near enough for the calories im burning.i doubt that my eating is gonna change much except on days i dont work.so my question is what is it i might possibly do to at least maintain my weight but would really like to gain some too.i weigh about 160 and im 5'11.a buddy of mine said maybe i should try yeast.and another told me to drink a slim fast after every meal.i dont know which way to go but would really appreciate any input.thanks, cliff

You do realise if you gain weight and don't do some sort of weight training you'll just get fat?

I think I could help, how much you weigh? Thats just say your 180, you will want to eat at least 200 grams of protein a day, invest in proteins shakes, most have around 40 grams of protein, with milk added to it, it comes out to around 50 grams, take a shake in the morning before you go to work, and right before you go to bed, thats 100 right there, try taken a protein bar to work with you, that's 30 grams, then when you get home from work make yourself a big dinner that includes alot of meat, that will account for about 50 grams of protein.

I know how you feel, I used to work construction and had no time for food, so I used supplements to fill in for the lack of food I was eating, and it worked. I got a view other tips and things you could do to gain weight, that worked for me, so if you have any questions just PM me, I would be glad to help.

Drink a half of a protien shake before you lift for mass then drink the second half when you finish. Then drink another full protein shake before you go to bed.

Lift for mass twice or three times a week.

Do that for two weeks and see how much you gain.

Why do people seem to think to get big all you need to do is consume 200g of protein?

200 grams of protein is about 700 grams of chicken breast.
If I ate that every day for about a month, I would certainly not gain weight.
    Hoho!

    thats true
muscle is around 22% protein according to the optimun nutrition bible and around 75% water with glycogen being stored in the water so u dont necessarily need to trat protein like its the be all an end all of muscle
    water is more important

Roofing is a pretty physically demanding job. It's not like he's at a desk stuffing his face.

If you don't have time to sit and eat, carry a few granola bars and some high calorie trail mix in your pockets when you are working so you have some healthy calories to eat throughout the day.
Other than that, eat bigger meals when you do have time to eat.

With most high protein foods, comes fat, calories, and alot of the time carbs. I will be honest with you, in highschool and a year or two after, all I did was lift weights and eat alot, I never really gained much weight, and the only time I did was when I cycled creatine, in which I lost the 10 pounds of weight I gained after I stopped taking it.

For me, high protein, 1.25 grams of protein per pound, worked amazingly for me, for the first time in my life, not only did I gain the weight, it came on faster than I could of ever expected it to, in 5 months I gained 25 pounds, I'm not saying it was all muscle, and I must admit, I lose alot of the 6 pack, but in return, my neck got bigger, my arms went from 14 and half to 16, I went from having a slightly above average chest to having a pretty big chest, and my back which was already pretty big from doing tons of pull ups, got even bigger.

I'm not saying this method will work for anyone, by I was always a hard gainer, with a lean built, but once I uped my protein intake, my body really transformed infront of my eyes, all thanks to protein.
