I have my first amateur fight in 1 month and I need help to make a good training routine to be in good condition. Im already training but not enough for my taste and i want to organize my conditionning a bit. I go to the gym 4 times a week but when i am there i would prefer to concentrate on my boxing and do the conditionning on my free time. If this can help i walk arround at 163-164 and plan to fight at 160. I mostly box and counterpunch. 1)What i want to do is run on the morning when i wake up so what distance should i run every day and how many days a week? 2) How many sit ups and push ups should i make and how many days a week? Also, if you have any suggestion of exercices that i could make it would be great. Thx.
If you only have a month the best thing for you to do is tempo runs rather than long distance. Run 2-3 miles with sprints added in.
Im in good shape and i have been running but no regularly or as much as i would like. but what do you mean by tempo runs...
Like run at your regular pace for a bit then sprint for 30+ seconds. Then take it back and sprint for 30+ seconds etc. etc. 4-5 times/week for 3 weeks, then take it easy a few days before your fight. Just do the boxing training stuff. You're training for an 8 minute burst of activity, so it's better (if you are already in good shape) to train in intense bursts rather than a long slow run. You'll get 10 different opinions on here, but that's just my advice.
5 days a week. But the week of your fight you should probably cut back to 2 or 3 and take a day or two off to rest up right before. It's your first fight so you're going to have a lot of nerves anyway, which will make you pretty tired. If you are already in good shape then chances are you'll be just fine. Good luck.
From Montreal eh? Me too. Maybe i can go check you out! Anyway, it seems like u will be all ready, the only thing i see is that for your first fight, you should be around 160lbs without major dehydration. You wanna be full strength for your first fight. If i were you, i would go down to 160 as soon as possible(i presume your weight in is right before the match and not a day before)
Yea im trying to lose some weight. I just need to watch what i eat carefully for one week and ill be allright. whhat part of mtl are you from btw?
