Of all the boxers who can make this proud claim, who retired with the most bouts under his belt?

It's not the correct answer, but to get the conversation started, Ricky Hatton had 47 bouts. I'm sure there are old timers with many more fights than that with great resumes.

With 69 career fights, Louis will place quite high in this category - but he's not at the top of the list.

He certainly is - and with 86 fights we're getting close to the top. He's not in 1st place, though.

If your going bt BoxRec, Packey McFarland had 113 without an official loss.

Jim Jeffries has to few bouts but I think he should be mentioned here, same with M. Spinks.

If we're only counting official decisions, you are of course right... but for these trivia questions I believe we always count newspaper decisions as well. And if we do, McFarland lost early in his career to one Dusty Miller.

McLarnin lost to a couple of non-HOFers (Don Snell, Johnny Farr) early in his career... so he can't be our man.

I think Azumah Nelson lost to a respectable crop of fighters. Gene Tunney is a sure vote. Hatton, Hamed, Michael Spinks, Bobby Chacon, ODLH, Trinidad, SRL, and Carlos Zarate. I think Zarate and Joe Frazier might be the best examples. Old timers are really hard to put in this category because many kept on fighting years or even decades past their best days to pay the bills so they ended losing to some non-HOFer's.
