They were not all rabbit punches.....they were chopping right and left hands that were angled to land on the top of the head. Floyd sometimes bends below the waist and pivots which sometimes causes the punches to land on the back of the head. The low blows were something else....but pretty crafty.

Floyd was holding a lot too.

It was a dirty fight from both fighters.

Floyd does use the elbows to create space but I think Chino was taking it to the extreme. He is lucky that Weeks let him work inside and didn't break the fighters. Honestly, I think the rabbit punches and punches/elbows to the top of the head are really dangerous. I mean you can be rough but that is out of bounds. He is the first fighter that I have seen in a while that took it to that place to try and win a fight. Most fighters won't go there.

he did go to "that place" to try and win.....but its sad where that place is...i mean...at least most guys are respectful to the sport

theres other things you can do to show how tough you are in life...

im not even mad at maidana cuz its exactly what i expected...and its probably the same way i would have approached it if i were his trainer..but its just kind of sad that the kind of fight we saw was about the only way people think he can be beat....muck it up...make it ugly....test his mettle and try to outlast him.....cause if its a clean boxing match you have virtually no real shot....

Definitely loose reffing in there. Maidana fought exactly the type of fight he had to. Risking point deductions to get in shots on Floyd.

There were hardly any rabbit punches honestly. Chino just throws punches from odd angles. To see what a rabbit punch really is, check out Hopkins vs Roy Jones II, Weeks was the ref in that one also. Rabbit punches are really when both fighters are in an actual clinch, waiting for the ref to break and a guy intentionally and blatantly targets the back of the head. There weren't really too many actual clinches last night. Chino putting his head down and throwing punches over his shoulder really aren't rabbit punches. If you watch Hopkins Jones II you'll see what a rabbit punch is, when a guy's head is hit from the back hard and snaps forward.

You want to see rabbit punch city, watch more British fights staged in English rings. There you will see so many rabbit punches, you'll think they are a legal punch.
