I noticed something about the fighters on my P4P list - none of them drink alcohol.

"bradley went life and death with rulan" and won.

I will never understand how people like you work.

You rank a P4P list based on YOUR PERSONAL OPINION of excitement?

Deontay Wilder could realistically be a top 10 P4P'er for you. Golovkin as well. Hernan Marquez IS a top 10 P4P'er based on your criteria established with the statement: "point deductions of Wladimir for lack of excitement."

Corrales and Castillo must have been top 10 P4P'ers for their whole careers. Do you still rate Castillo top 10 P4P based on his exciting fights of the past? The list must have been named after Arturo Gatti. Paul Williams was top 10 P4P heading into the Ishida fight. Giovani Segura should be the P4P King right now, no?

    What?

Well then what the hell are Marquez, Pacquiao, Klitschko, Provodnikov, any of those guys doing on the list?

Plenty of fighters have done more in the past 2 years or less...

Indeed, I like his approach to boxing.

My name is just a stupid combination making fun of both Nonito Donaire and ****** Smoaks' names, as my favorite baseball team the Mariners had just traded for him in a move I hated when I made this account.

yea, i commend donaire for being the only fighter to undergo year-round Olympic style testing.

but Rigo turned him into a mentally shot fighter.

Absolutely. Year round blood testing, first person in the history of Earth to do so. Pretty cool to go down in the history books for that when a student in an athletics class is researching drug testing and looks up the first to undergo random year round even out of competition.

I admit when I was super confident and proven horribly incorrect as so in that fight. Still not shocked, as I did rate Rigo highly, but relatively close to being. Darchinyan II was tough to watch too. Good close out but that's bad considering what it took to get there. Vic at 126 has no business winning 6 rounds thru 8 in a fight against Donaire based on the way I view Donaire (which was lofty until Rigo then Vic II).

Sorry, jas.I was just referring to the fact that Holyfield, like Douglas before him{probably a better example}was not intimidated by Tyson. And Tyson was still a force then. But I take your point about the early fights.
I see you mention Lara.Just a few observations based on my experience of Cuba.As we know, its a poor country where everyday life is hard, and alcohol is cheap.Possibly a breeding ground for drink problems. Many people follow parents down the path of dependency, but Lara, being a top boxer, possibly decided early in life not to follow his Mother. And I don't think drink is good in any way for any sportsman, except possibly with the ones who need to give them some kind of reward after a tough fight/match.Then the danger is overindulgence.

Technically , one or two occasional drinks is not likely to affect your performance.

However, its clear that the mindset some fighters have of "always healthy, always in shape, 24/7 365" is quite a valuable asset for those who would be the best.

IMO Elite boxers disinterest in Alcohol is because they need their CNS more than average humans

Their attachment to their CNS could be genetic (descended out of mentally alert population), adaptive (learned early on as a kid) or both

The CNS damage doesn't exactly cover the other side effects of drinking. (For starters...He should not be drinking in the first place = poor training)

    They shouldn't.

A glass or 2 outside of training camp isn't the worst thing.

Sometimes it can possibly be a good thing for some outside of training camp to have an occasional drink or night out to relax and recharge mentally (all work no play mightnt work for some)

This is what I was getting at in part.Course an occasional drink won't hurt, especially if seen as a bit of a reward.Take Hatton as an example. He wouldn't have it any other way,and probably would have been unhappy if he couldn't have had a drink. But in the end it wouldn't have done him any favours to be on and off the ****.A six and 2 threes situation.
