Now that we've heard something else big may be in the works........I think this upcoming unification fight is causing a chain reaction, and just may well start the other titleholders to realize that any fight they take in defense of their one, lone title will be overshadowed by this long awaited, and sorely needed unification fight, that has so many fight fans so excited and eagerly anticipating this unification fight, which is a start at putting boxing's mothership division, the heavyweights, back on its feet and back in the interest of the public.

Sultan and Chagaev have really shaken things up in the divsion with this monumental fight announcement, and I think this fight will cause such a roar of approval from fans and boxing journalist, alike, that this fight is bound to raise the bar, and cause everyone to demand something else beyond this first fight, be done to continue to help save the sad state of the heavyweight title picture.

    :good

I'm excited to see it happening. The winner vs Wlad for the HW crown and Ring belt would be nice.

Just read an interesting fact on fightnews that this is the first HW unification bout of any kind in 8 years! I didn't realize it had been that damn long! :huh

    anyways to the thread
it will be a good turning point when the belts were single champions each saying im sparticus. but now there is gonna be a unified champ don king and the like need a better man to lok better than the one on the top thus they have to unify to get a piece of the pie...i just read all that and it didnt make a whole lot of sense but hopfully you get my point

it just happens it's also the first time King hasn't had a belt in that long.

These 2 guys deserve props for taking the fight and not even defending it against a lesser opponent trying to milk things the way a King fighter would.:good

Its time for boxing journalists to do their duty, and praise these guys every chance they get.

Boxing column writers should bring up the other possible heavyweight unfication fights so much that it makes the promoters and other titleholders, alike, all realize that unification is on the fans' mind so much so now that mere title defenses against an endless procession of Don King's bums won't cut it, anymore.

Now that they've finally got this started, the divison should put pressure on everyone involved to finish this, and not accept anything else til we have a single unified champion.

I think the heavyweights are starting to rise back to their feet, at long last.

Now the biggest obstacle will be the ABC's trying to interfer with mandatory's

Even if the ABC orgs behind the desk start to screw things up (and I suspect they will, shortly), that won't matter as long as the fighters currently holding their titles are in these unifying fights. Cause the actual title, itself, is really worthless, once the fighter has aquired it.

Let Oleg toss that WBC title in Peter's lap and fight another titleholder instead, cause if he's got a title or not won't matter, then. Oleg, the fighter, is where a piece of the fractured lineage lies, not in the title, itself.

That's how I see it, anyway.

Well, these guys make a fan of me just by being so proactive and immediately going for this unification fight. I don't really watch the Heavyweights as much as other divisions, but this is encouraging.

This is a great step forward for the heavyweight division and I have a lot of respect of Ruslan, Sultan, and their respective teams for making this happen and giving the fans what we have wanted.

I think Sultan will beat Chaegev, based on what I saw of Chaegev vs. Ruiz and Maskaev - admittedly awkward opponents.

Sultan looks like he's got fast hands, good technique, and significant power.

Not that I'm a cynical man, but...two relatively unproven HW champs going at it...watch it be a draw.
