Don't make me list all the reasons...there's just too many.

Are there any years that compare where boxing as a whole as benefitted as much as it has in 2007? Where there have been so many high caliber match-ups? Where ATG have cemented their status vs. prime contenders? I submit that there hasn't been.

It is definitely in the contention.

If 2008 will only be half as good as 2007, I would already be happy. And so far, it seems it will be (Pac-Jmm 2, Hopkins - Calzaghe, etc) :happy

I agree 2007 has been a fantastic year for our sport , the reason being imo is that sports such as the UFC etc were begining to draw a lot of digruntled boxing fans to their particular sports and the boxing promoters realised this and matched up some quality lads to counter this . Merry Xmas and a happy new year to all on ESB .Regards Josey Wales

I think that 2007 was the best year of the 2000+ decade yet. That being said, I think that with all of the excellant fights we've seen this year, players jockeying for position, and all the shaking up, people being exposed, floyd cementing legacy- what have you- All this is doing, I THINK, is setting up a lot of possibilities for 2008. For instance, Great year for Malignaggi- Win a title - but in 2008 he will start off defending it, and possibly get a fight with another champ (who may be 2belt champ at that point)
Cotto vs mosely- great win for cotto, but there may be a money-may follow up in 2008. Likewise, Hatton and DLH vs Mayweather- great events of the year, but setting up perhaps a bigger battle against miguel.
A lot of people in 2007 moving into power and at the end of the year they are all saying things like, " I want to Unify!" or "I want (insert "untouchable" fighter here" or "I'll take the risk to make this fight happen". I think that 08 is going to be EXPLOSIVE!

For the record, my eyes are on the Peterson brothers in 08 as well as Andre berto!

2007 has been a year to remember. Let's hope 2008 is every bit as good, if not better.
