shouldnt it be : "i dont care about the money- i only want to fight the best fighters" !?!?!??! :think:think:think:think:think just saw Valero said something like the first...lead me to think- are there any fighter out there that fight for the love of the sport!?!? i can only think of Emanuel Augustus- that dude dont care- he ll fight anywhere for anything- love it! :bbb
Sure, if you're being naive. There's fighters who care about being the best and making big money, and others who care about simply making big money.
Cotto is another fighter that fights anybody that is put in front of him regardless of the amount of money he makes
It's a naive way at looking at it. 99% of people seek out the most lucrative opportunities - not just boxers. If you're going to put your life on the line, there might as well be a nice payday...
Money is a huge reason behind their selection of boxing as a JOB, accept it already. All this "fighting for glory and ONLY glory" is a load of garbage. Glory doesn't pay the bills.
Augustus is not much in a position to only take the big money fights. He's a journeyman and most journeymen don't make much. Only a very small percentage of fighters make a lot. Most of them make so little, they have a regular job in addition to boxing.
