I personally think George Foreman's comeback was a superior effort to Larry Holmes'

I don't think that's entirely fair to Holmes in regards to his fight with Holyfield. Did you see all those right hands that Larry landed on Holyfield? Did you see Holmes come on strong in the 11th(actually stunning Holyfield) and 12th rounds. I admit the fight wasn't all that exciting or action-packed, but Holmes did try to beat Holyfield and hurt him. I think he hit Holyfield more cleanly and more often than Foreman did, and he didn't have to take a beating like Foreman did.........I expected more from Holmes that night, but he did try.

No, he earned the first shot. The second shot was given to him, just like Foreman's second shot was given to him.

How did you score the Holyfield-Foreman and Holyfield-Holmes fights?

It's been awhile since I've seen Holyfield-Foreman from start to finish, but I think I had it like 10-2, and had Holyfield-Holmes like 8-4.

I gave Foreman roughly "4" rds against Holy over the duration of 12........ The same for my man Larry Holmes against Holy, as well....... BOTH of my elderly boys were competitive and worthy in their 1991 / '92 title shots.....

Considering Foreman and Arum admitted to fixing ratings and probably fixed fights to benefit Foreman I would discount most of his comeback, particularly the latter portion.

Just curious - which 4 rounds did you give to Foreman in the Holyfield fight? For the life of me I can't see how Foreman could have won more than 2 rounds at the absolute most. I know scoring can be pretty subjective, but I'm curious to know your scoring.

Hell, I gotta review the tape........... But I recall giving Foreman rd 2.... I know the judges did not...... But I thought Foreman rocked Holy in rd 2 and had him backing up...... I'm sure I can find three more rds to give Foreman...... I recall the 7th was friggin' close..... It was Foreman's rd early, but Holy closed the show.... Perhaps even there.?.? Again, I gotta review..... Cheers...

Back when I was still a teenager(I was 16 at the time of the fight)I was a big-time Pro-Foreman fan. I was rooting for the guy all the way against Holyfield, and every time George landed any kind of punch I would go nuts. As a result, when I scored the fight, I gave Foreman way too much credit on the scorecards....After I become older, and not so blinded by nostaliga and "Foreman fever," I have a hard time giving Foreman more than 1 round. Foreman would land a few good punches and even knock Holyfield off balance, but Holyfield, with his tremendous hand speed and combination punching, would steal Foreman's momentary successes and then win the rest of a given round. Very frustrating for me at the time. Only if George had more hand speed.

Foreman at 257 and age 42 was as strong as King Kong in 1991, but also slower than ****........... I know that........... Had Foreman been at roughly 243 to 245 pounds like he was in 1987 / '88 against "Sekorski & Trane" on ESPN, I think Foreman would've been better off against Holy in '91.... 257 was too much weight for Foreman against Holy.........:yep

NO! My man Holmes had the fight in his gloves after rd 8.... But, he fell apart and got tired and nailed too often during rds 9 to 12........ It was close....... Holmes got off to a big lead............. But McCall closed the show....... Had L.H. had at least another big / solid rd between 9 thru 12, I'd have given him the nod..... Larry just missed the title there in 1995.......:patsch

I don't remember the exact scores, but 3 rounds is the maximum i could give to either Holmes or Foreman. Galant efforts, but they were not competitive fights.

I think they were competitive, just Holyfield won them both by solid margins. Against both of them Evander had to work very hard to win the rounds.

Of course it was ... he won a title, make tons more money and won the love of the planet ... Holmes did not manage any of the three ...
