Tommy Loughran is a poor example, I'm talking in recent years as in 70's+ where quality got better, somehow now these guys well under 200 pounds just cease to exist when it comes to handling 200+ pound fighters? Hayes against Valuev is a decent shout, Haye was still over 200 pounds though and Valuev was a strange one, it seemed like he never really liked hitting anyone. No fighter ever under 200 pounds would be able to take guys like Tyson Fury, Lennox Lewis, Klitschko brothers etc the physical advantages are just way too much, hell Jersey Joe Walcott got knocked out by Abe Simon who was a huge man in the 40's and he didn't have half the skills those guys had. A guy like Vitali Klitschko for example took Lennox Lewis' best punches, he would not be afraid of a shot from a man under 200 pounds, he would also be much strong in clinches and could most the opponents whole body just catching them in the arm. No "Truly elite small fighters" Would get past Wilder let alone go the distance, middleweights get rocked and knocked out by other middleweights let alone a 6'6 man with an 83 inch reach whose not slow and knocks out much bigger men regularly. The thing is a lot of this comes down to pure fantasy, can a smaller fighter beat a bigger fighter? Yes more so in MMA or Muay Thai I believe because there's more weapons to use but in a sport where it's just about punching the opponent the days if some 160 pound fighters beating a 200+ pound man ended a long time ago and any fighter would tell you that. Do you think a 120 pound boxer could hang with a 160 pound fighter?
Stupid post he was way to small would be ran through fast, anybody who picked him was just joking its easy to see he would be ran through looks trash...
I don't think it's a poor example, why do you think the quality got better and why? Of course, you're talking about the greatest big fighters ever. That's not the same as fighting fighters like Tua. MWs rocks other MWs because they are better boxers and could hit his opponents cleanly.
Toney used roids and ate lots to get to that size, realistically he should have been a Cruiserweight most of his career, he was 200+ pounds in high school. Toney would not have been able to withstand the shots he did at Heavyweight weighing 160 pounds , that's just common sense bro.
Trust me if you were David Tua and had that kind of power you'd find the thought of a 160 pound man trying to box you. Heavyweights take punches better than lighter weights because they are bigger and stronger sorry bro... Do you think a 120 pound boxer could beat a 160 pound boxer?
Why are you debating this with him ?,he's acting like he doesn't already know what your saying as true ,most people know hw body are way tougher this has been proven for years, and harry was trash it's easy to see he would be destroyed by Dave
So is the question toney had he been that small facing the same dudes at hw would he take the shots no lt at all
