Which all time greats are the Klitschos supposed to beat? Lewis backed out of the rematch with Vitali because he wasn't sure if he would win, that's the only all time great either Klitschko had the chance to fight. Vitali tried to fight Tyson in 2000 but obviously it didn't happen. There are no greats for them to beat.

True, top 100 tennis players all look amazingly talented whether they win or lose, unlike boxers. Tennis is a sport of grace and timing and reflexes and athleticism, boxing is quite different. Very few champion boxers are very aesthetic to watch in action in all their fights, getting hit by a left hook on the button is not as easy to take as a forehand winner down the line. Becker would not be competitive now on the ATP tour.

If you gonna say the HWT division is weak, why not say the middleweight division when Hagler and Hopkins dominated was weak? Why not put that asterisk for Hagler and Hopkins, as you want to do for Klitschko?

I'll tell you, the middleweight division was never weak. Obelmejias, Scypion, C. Lee, Hamsho, Robert Allen, Echols, Lipsey might not be big marquee names but they were the best contenders. Hagler and Hopkins had plenty of tough fights. The MW and HWT divisions were not weak for Hagler, Hopkins and Klitschko respectively.

Ali never drew anything close to 65,000 for a live gate.

    I agree 100%

The only reasons people are excited about Haye are:

    He can bang
He won't come in with his belly hanging over his belt
He'll try to win. Not just say he will, then meekly stand there.

That's about it really. A lot of the current guys might even be a lot better if they actually were fit.

The think killing it now is money IMO. Look at a guy like Arrealo - and Tua in the past.

Once these guys make solid contender level, they've made a lot of money. They get fight. There's no real incentive to get to the very top, because they've made their money already.

Audley Harrison signed a rich contract before his first pro fight. It's a joke.

Vitali will knock Haye out. Vlad will knock Povetkin out, then knock Chambers out. Povetkin beat Haye and it was not even close.

If the hater's hero were to win a title, they would claim that his is the strongest heavyweight division in boxing history.

    Bingo bingo bingo.

And he also has a great look. He's a handsome young chap with a big gob and a photogenic physique, even the fact he's British makes for an interesting marketing angle.

I mean, bless his heart, I know Sultan Ibragimov for example was a capable boxer but if he passed you in the airport there'd be absolutely nothing that screams 'superstar' about him. The Klitschkos look the part. Haye looks the part. Not too many others do.

Doesn't matter how damn good your steak is if there's no sizzle. And the steak ain't been all that good recently anyway.

Thegreat since you probably weren't around to live through those eras you really aren't qualified to say. History books and TV documentaries glorify and make those past eras seem better than they really were and accelerates all the big moments to seem like they were non stop continual. But the truth is there were many lackluster performances vs. subpar opposition by Ali, Louis, Holmes, Tyson, Lewis and every other great.

Yep these eras were nothing special. And are the people who are talking about the diminutive skill level of the HW fighters today not going to say Marciano was that skillful? Not saying this is a great or even a good era but it´s not as bad as many of you claim.
