Two undefeateds for the P4P championship. The size difference in weight makes NO difference when you consider their height and reaches. Now that Pacquiao has proven it and broken those barriers of weight divisions and a cruiserweight in David Haye was outweighed by 100 pounds versus Valuev it proves its just man vs man and who has the best skill, will and strategy to win.
Bad idea. Calzaghe would absolutely dominate him, even though Mayweather is a far better fighter. There's size difference and there's size difference, and this would be far too much to make it a fair fight.
Calzaghe is better P4P by a long ****ing way mate. Great little man vs awe-inspiring big fighter = mismatch.
Neither Pacquiao nor Haye - Valuev apply as examples here. Yes, Haye was outweighed by 100 pounds - against a fighter who was beaten by smaller men than Haye before. Calzaghe is the fastest in the world at his weight, Valuev was the slowest HW out there. Pacquiao is a complete exception in his ability to move up in weight and get physically stronger, he may be the best ever in this category. Mayweather can't pot shot his way to victory against a much bigger fighter who throws 1000 punches and has an excellent chin.
Do you really not see the difference? Pac was 1.5lbs heavier than Oscar on fightnight. Calzaghe would probably be around 25-30lbs heavier than Mayweather on fightnight. It's a non-starter.
I found this thread from the Pacquiao versus De La Hoya debate http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26688
How exactly does some comments that some ESB posters made ages ago about a different fight offset this fact:
A similar debate then. By comparison: Mayweather 5'-8" 72" reach Calzaghe 5'-11" 73" reach Paquiao 5'-6" 67" reach De La Hoya 5'-10" 73" reach There was a greater disparity in height and reach for Pac vs DLH. The arguments about weight differences have always been and are bulls#*t.
Dont get me wrong i would love to see this and breaking the weight division thing further, but this just would be simply too much for floyd. Calzaghe last fought at light-heavy, and is much stronger and throws to many strong punches, he woud literally walk straight through floyd.
dnt be stupid joe cudnt go below 170 now and floyd wud have to jump nearly 2 stone in 1 go n den joe wud be at least 15lbs heavier on da night yu wud u even bother bringin it up makes no sense
