This thought has just randomly passed through my mind. A lot of people consider this too high a rating. But think about it. How many all time greats would you have given a better than even chance of beating George in 1974 ? Muhammad Ali was still a phenomenally great fighter at this point, but there's not too many more that I can think of. One or two, maybe. ?????

    Frazier was past prime

Norton is a good win, but remember about styles make fights rule

Foreman was huge favourite over Ali

Foreman shouldn't lost to Jimmy Young

    Exciting win over Lyle

Shady way that Foreman got his title chance against Moorer

    Great KO over Moorer

Controversial fights against Schulz and Briggs...

    I rate Foreman 7-12

    :rofl:twisted::nut:patsch Foreman-HATER!

Johnson Relied on clinchin' smaller, lighter, WEAKER men. Jack was teh Black Johnny Ruiz. Foreman pushes him off And KO'S him in Rnd 1.

Louis doesnt have teh chin needed to beat Foreman. Foreman KO2 cos Louis would get up like 6 times like prime Frazier did.

    Tunney is way way too-small at 189lbs And a blown-up Light-heavy. Foreman Ko 1.

Liston gives a v.good Slugfest for 4 Roundz And is KO'd in Round 4-5.

Holmes too-open for teh Right Hook - one of Foreman's Money-Punches, so he KO'D in 6 Roundz.

Holyfeild give a Brave-effort for 5 Roundz And is KO'D on round 5 Or 6.

Lennox gives Foreman a v.great slugfest for 6 Roundz as these 2 Massive-bangers trade Haymakers off Each-Other's iron chins - BUT Lennox is finally KO'd in round 7 By a Gigantic Left Hook, Right hook Combo.

    Muhammad Ali

    Joe Louis

    Rocky Marciano
    Larry Holmes
    Lennox Lewis

    George Foreman
    Mike Tyson
    Joe Frazier

    Sonny Liston
    Evander Holyfield
    Floyd Patterson
    Wlad Klitchsko

they're the tiers i see amongst the greats

And bodhi, yesterday you claimed i watch but dont understand boxing. How can you posibly watch Jack Johnson and claim he beats any version of Foreman, let alone prime. That is just flat out delusional.

Its not high at all Stevie

    I got him at #5

And if he hadn't lost to Ali, he might have been #1 on all of our lists

Although, he is one of my favorite heavy's of all time, I can't justify placing him at #4. I think either 6 or 7 is fair, depending on the individual's critera.

Unfortunately, I think he would have been riding a double edged sword. By losing to Muhammad Ali, he lost the biggest fight that he ever had, and one that he needed to boost him to the top of the all time great list... The problem however, is that had he beaten Ali, it likley would have been written off as a win over a diminished fighter, and consequentally would have had less value. Furthermore, Ali's value and recognition would have been lessened without the Foreman win..What I think George needed was an extended reign with many title defenses, in order to qualify for a top 3-4 position, and I'm not sure that it was ever going to be in the cards for him.

    i have him at 5.
and the guys a see beating him are ali, holmes, liston. all 9 out of 10 times.
lennox lewis i give 3 or 4 out of 10. and joe louis 6 or 7 out of 10.
and probably (a prime motivated) max baer also has at least a 50% chance against george
