Chavez and Froch bring $$$. Ward brings a lot of demands and some flies. For what its worth, I also don't like catchweights and think that if GGG can make 168 he should.
I agree with the first paragraph, wholeheartedly. That second paragraph (or sentence) is a little more difficult to agree with as I am not sure there would be a better time to fight Dre due to the fact that he is coming off the layoff and will only go up in weight. Once he fights Kova, GGG will not be able to fight him under 170.
why not? alot of his fans think no1 beats ggg, not even atgs from the past like roy jones. ggg resume is bad there is no canelo cotto showdown.
golovking.....the reason i say that is this....you and i might look at a loss to ward right now and say "hey its not that bad....he can still recover and be big"....im not so sure they look at it the same way though
Both Froch and Chavez were for 5+mil plus 50/50 PPV splits. The Chavez fight had a lower guarantee, but had HBO PPV approval. The Froch fight was not approve by HBO PPV w/o DeGale on board. He went to Haymon, and the fight died unless Hearn could get it done in Nottingham and get SkyPPV on board. When DeGale signed with Haymon, Froch announced his retirement. HBO have given their blessing on WARD vs GGG guarantee 5 million. Roc just needs to find venue to make up the extra 5 million to get GGG onboard. But in making this fight at 168, and agreeing to the terms of the contract, GGG would vacate his MW titles and begin his campaign at SMW. Roc would then save in excess of 1.5 mil in step aside $$$$ guaranteed to GGG for allowing Cotto vs Canelo.
This fight is doable if ward agrees to terms and ROC can guarantee the 8 million. Easy as pie ......wink wink
:think If that's the case, then thanks for posting this. A lot of things are starting to make sense
It is the case. Just a couple MINOR CONCESSIONS BY WARD AND ITS DONE. 1. Can't be in Oakland. Roc knows GGG brings the largest FANBASE by hosting the fight in front of 21k at MSG. 2. GGG will get a guarantee of $8 mil. $3 mil of which HBO will be putting up. $1.5 mil of which Roc would save by GGG dropping his WBC title. Roc will undoubtedly ask GBP to aid in their fair share so as Oscar also saves $1.5 mil. Gate makes up the rest, and Roc/ward are kosher. 3. Ward and Hunter claim ward is 180 lbs on fightnight. Ward will concede to the rehydration clause with $200k/ lb penalty. 4. WArd will undergo VADA TESTING paid for by k2. Minor concession in which ward will more than double his career high payday. It's on like a pot of neckbones
Triple Duck knows he will look terrible fighting Ward. He will probably duck Ward and hope he gets Canelo at some point.
I can't really accept a guy losing to Ward = hypejob, maybe if he was schooled 12-0, I mean Froch only won a handful of rounds and he's had some career.
Points 3 and 4 demonstrate CLEARLY that team Triple Duck doesn't want the fight. The rehydration clause is BS with an extra side of weak sauce. I don't even know where to begin on point 4. Vada testing should be on BOTH fighters...
Exactly. Losing to Hall of Fame bound Andre Ward isn't terribly embarassing. A lot of opinions around here are emotion based and geared towards the fans of certain fighters. It's really juvenile.
