Finally watched it now...sound off. Lara was throwing one punch at a time trying to get a KO. Williams meanwhile was throwing trying to get close, basically chasing Lara around the ring. To the judges, it probably looked like Lara was on his bike. Lara was doing absolutely nothing on the inside, throwing one overhand left here and there. Williams was busier and trying to make the fight, Lara was potshotting and doing nothing on the inside. While this worked for Sergio Martinez who walks around at 180, there was no way this would work for Lara. He doesn't have the one hit wonder power and isn't naturally bigger than Paul. Lara had the wrong strategy and lost.

Yeah Lara had the clean punching but his running basically nullified all of the other criteria of judging a fight...effective agressiveness, ring generalship, defense. Not saying that Paul did either because Lara was on his bike for most of that fight. Froch's "win" over Dirrell was more of a robbery.

It's hard to land when the other dude is doing sprint intervals around the ring to get away. It's Lara's fault he lost the fight. He was trying to create space to land that one big punch but the way he was doing it by literally running wasn't the way to do it. Paul is there to be hit. Use angles slide to the side, don't run back at points in the fight with your back damn near to the other fighter. Paul is easy to hit...always has been due to a horrible trainer. So that doesn't get any props from me. It's kind of like people are penalizing Paul for getting KO'd and not dropping Peterson.

The crux of what i've been reading and what people keep saying is that he got hit with the same punch that Sergio hit him with. That's the only punch Lara was landing. One punch isn't enough to win you a fight unless you knocking out the other fighter. Lara fought for a KO, he didn't try to win any other way. He didn't get the KO and lost...that's all.

According to you, lara only threw one punch at a time, and was running to get away. I am not even so sure you watched it judging fro not only your comments, but suggesting the decision was just. :patsch

PWillie should have lost and he did lose but the judges for some odd reason fukked it all up!

stop trying to justify the shyt.....he lost....Paul Williams even felt he lost look at the way he raised his hand when it was over....he didnt even want to do it!

Are you trolling right now?? You call that running?? What? Lara was using the ring and boxing masterfully against a guy who is very hard to look good against. Running is when you just run the ring and dont engage in combat, Lara was bouncing left hands off that fools face all night long.

Williams might have been busier but the last time I checked, judges weren't supposed to favour a guy for missing punches. I think Lara still landed more despite throwing a lot less.

Its a boxing match not a punching contest.

Lara wasn't running, he was boxing. Williams was punching. And getting punched.

I agree with a lot of this only Williams didn't deserve to win. I did score the fight a draw after watching it 4 times, but PW did not deserve the win. I originally thought from watching this fight the first time that Lara won. I said to myself that maybe I need to watch it again blocking out Kellerman and Jones's commentary.

paul is from my home state...and he got his ass kicked last night...watch the fight, sound up or down, look at his face and his little "stick out of tounge" at his promoter after the dec was announced...that gesture read to anyone who saw it " holy **** can you believe this"?
