And I'd agree with that. Maybe not.

Regardless it would not have been an easy fight for RJJ; I think Calzaghe's style would have given him problems at any stage and I'm not the only person that thinks that.

He could never have beaten Roy if he didn’t believe that he could have beaten him.

Or maybe he's just being honest as to how good RJJ was.

He was being honest. But apart from being easy to hit, Joe’s biggest flaw was that he didn’t believe in himself as much as what he should have done.

We know that from various comments as well as his actions from throughout the years.

    He didn’t have Tarver’s confidence.

He had neither the confidence or defence needed to have taken down a version of Roy from the 90’s.

Joe was always easy to hit. Even against Euro and domestic level opposition.

That doesn't change the fact that he was shot. He was NOWHERE near the man he was in his prime.

Why, because he was fighting better competition? Use your brain. Don't think like an American, Markus.

    What difference does that make?

Roy was no longer a top level fighter at that point.

He could only beat C level and under guys.

That's not really true. Emile over Tiger and Pastrano over Johnson are two examples off the top of my heads of fighters who expressed doubts pre-fight who went on to win.

    They took the fights.

They had doubts, but they signed the contracts and put it all on the line.

Joe wouldn’t go near Roy back in the day.

He had no intention of pursuing the fight.

He was telling the media that he wasn’t chasing Roy as he didn’t want tough fights, and that he feared flying.

He stayed under the radar for many years because he didn’t have the drive and the confidence that a guy like Hatton had.

It’s the reason why he was still relatively unknown when he fought Lacy, and why Lacy was the favourite.
