I have watched the fight a few times and he dominates pretty much rounds 1-5 and then does nothing and i mean NOTHING for rounds 6-12 I cannot believe the hatred for Mayweather among fans, celebs ect I think people have got a little over excited and seen a competitive fight and just got carried away? It was not a robbery hell pac got robbed vs bradley, jmm got robbed v pac in fight 3 but maidana didnt sustain what he did at the start floyd was hitting him at will after rounds 5 im starting to dislike chino and garcias camp for the way they are claiming a robbery, sure complain about the gloves that was a shittty move by mayweather but they should accept they gave floyd hell for 5 rounds but lost the fight
I watched the fight and Floyd dominates sorta pretty much rounds 6-12 and then does nothing and I mean NOTHING for rounds 1-5.
If my memory serves me correctly it was 9 and 11. Close though, would be fine with a draw or closer decision.
dealt with i agree floyd has little success in 1-5 but I would say he still did a little more than maidana did in 6-12 rounds
Rounds 2, 6, 7, and 9-12 were Mayweather rounds. Round 5 was Maidana's showcase, rounds 1 and 8 were good rounds for him he won close, and 3 and 4 were rounds he made close but ultimately didn't land enough while eating too many clean.
I remember 2 of those later rounds where Floyd landed some clean shots, but for the majority of the round was getting bulled up against the ropes.
yea maidana still got him against the ropes later on but he wasnt doing the good work like before he seemed tired and smothered his efforts where as before he was having success to the body and overhand rights
Tired yes. But still hitting looks better than holding. In a close fight like this, to me, on that night I would have rather have been Madaina. Even in the post fight interviews and press conference, Floyd seemed like the loser and Maidana the winner.
It's kinda crazy when you think about what Maidana would have had to do to win that fight via decision. He would have to be constantly wailing away on Floyd in every single round and not let Floyd land a single overhand right. The fact that Floyd won so many of the first 6 rounds just shows how stacked the deck is against a Floyd opponent. It's becoming a common theme that two of the three judges give pretty much all the close rounds to Floyd and the other judge is more willing to give a round to Floyd's opponent. This way two of the judges are always going to score the fight in favor of Floyd even if he does nothing and just lands a few clean overhand rights in a round. To these judges, those overhand rights landing is like an automatic Floyd round no matter what the other guy is doing. It's kind of amazing when you think about Floyd Canelo and now Floyd Maidana. The scorecards were identical, yet they were completely different fights. Floyd is such a draw and a moneymaker for the sport that he just goes into fights with that championship advantage to where the other guy has to completely dominate Floyd round after round to possibly win a decision. It's kinda crazy when you think about it, Maidana kinda would have had to have A+++ stamina to be able to go at Floyd like he did in the early rounds for the entire fight.
