Who were the big 168 lbers at his period? I mean, Kessler? Ward..? Frochy would have gave Golo a good rough housing. The MW division is an overrated division IMO...Ketchel, Lamotta is in most people's top 10 lol, an old Robinson ruled that kitchen.

Those guys weren't even anything at the time. Prior to Jacobs,Charlo was either a brand new Middleweight or still at 154lbs, Boo boo was where ever he was, and Saunders barely beat Lee at the very end of 2015 Dec19th. Saunders was feeling pretty confident at the end of 2017, Dec. After Lemeiux, but GGG was preparing for the Canelo rematch and Saunders was the last thing on GGG'S mind. That being said, i would have liked to see GGG interested in Booboo or Charlo later in his career, he was much older and had a right to look elsewhere. He was saving himself for a third Canelo fight so i expected a war after him finally recieving the fight. Turns out he played it safe and put up an decent but not GGG type showing.

I'm glad he hooked up with Abel though. Abel polished his style into a destruct and destroy machine that made him famous. He had great power, skills chin and amateur pedigree, but the final ingredient was Abel, which made it exquisite.

He looked like he really had to force himself up in the trilogy fight. He looked bigger but slower. I bet he could punch hard at 168lbs. You could tell by the respect Canelo gave him in that fight.

So because he wasn't big he couldn't move up one class and test himself against better fighters?

If GGG got 2 win over Alvarez he will be in FANTASTIC position.
After first time when it was called draw Golovkin was numero uno in P4P. Even after nad decision. If he got win in two fight he will be strong nr. 1 in the world.

Im sure as number 1 with DAZN on his back Gennady will be super Star and perfect alternative for anybody from midlleweight and super midleweight.

First I think he will end his journey (his dream and main goal what he said many times) to unify division. I belive Billy Joe will be find his little balls and take this fight then and Im sure GGG will be win maybe even better than Canelo did.

When he will be unifed Champion and number 1 in world he will fight with Calum Smith and I belive beat him easy too.

Its all about position. If someone cheat You when u are after long time doing Your job and was soo close to end it, its just heart and take away Your ambiton.
His record will be looks much better witch Sanders and Smith, and twice Alvarez.

You remember Canelo was pretending to be too small for GGG? The way Canelo was ducking, and trying to make GGG come down in weight made it seem it was inevitable, but Canelo proved his toughness in those 2 fights, the 3rd as well. I don't think anybody anticipated him having that solid of a chin, and that much mental fortitude.

All those guys were way bigger than GGG. HE did drop Kovalev in sparring, Kovalev said you can't hurt GGG in an interview. He also sent Groves home with cracked ribs from sparring. Groves said he went there into camp out of shape though.

He did everything really well but I wished he’d fought someone to watch besides Canelo.

When GGG was 15 he was probably 140lbs or less, regardless, Canelo was outweighing GGG on fight night weights when he was a jr middleweight and GGG was a middleweight, there was never a reason for GGG to come down.

All the more reason why he should've at least tested the water at 168. He did himself a disservice allowing Canelo to age him out when he could've handpicked his comp a higher weight, while still in his prime.
