Though given how well he performed last time out, I think Freddie Roach may be shrewd enough to ensure this doesn't happen, at least not in a situation that would be favourable to Marquez

90% of boxing fans were shocked at how the last fight turned out so I'd say there'd be massive interest for an immediate rematch, if Marquez is game (I don't know that he is, but I can't seriously see him turning the fight down)

Is there any reason for this fight not to happen?

    Timothy Bradley isn't a reason.

I'd be very happy with a May 5th Mayweather bout vs Cotto, and then a May 19th (or whenever) Pacquiao - Marquez bout

I can see Marquez being satisfied with the reaction of the public after the 3rd fight and not too sure that he would be able to repeat that again in a 4th showdown. I don't see how he could perform any better unless Pac is seriously slipping.

I also think this would be a great fight.

I agree. I'm still far more interested in seeing these two guys try to finally get a decisive win than I am for Pac vs Bradley. I think JMM certainly earned another decent pay day if he wants it. I'd like to see the fight be in a more neutral place too if I had a say.

But I wouldn't be surprised if both these guys just don't want to go down this road again.

    He's not fighting him until he's 41 or 42.

Marquez is too overly cautious to win a close decision against Manny. What you'll have is another close Pacquiao win and another collective groan of "robbery" by Mexicans and Marquez fans.

Pacquaio fights Marquez every 4 years. Every 4 years he realises he's not good enough to beat Juan and thanks the great lord Arum that he's paid two of the Judges off.

We have just under 4 years left till Pacquaio - Marquez 4 at 160lbs.

didn't marquez just demanded too much for the 4th fight? i think he deserves more but he has some insane demands like a 4th judge and $20M guarantee plus the fight should be in mexico?

give him the $20M but the other demands are unrealistic. i also want this fight next since bradley is not a big draw while pac-jmm4 could still do big numbers.

so much facts are blatantly left. didn't pac agreed to just a $50k more increase for an immediate marquez rematch but jmm thinks it's not a good offer and proceeds to fight elsewhere?

It's the biggest money fight out there for him.

But then again, outside of Floyd (and other unrealistic fights), it's one of the toughest fights out there for him.

And if he does lose, he'll potentially end up losing more money in the long run.

    So my money's on Bradley.

I really do not care for it until PBF beats Pac. Once that fight happens there is no reason for the judges to rob JMM again. It is pretty obvious that the more they keep fighting the wider the cards get. Pac just can not outbox JMM and if he tries to rush him then he is just putting himself at more risk. I can definitely see this fight being made again in 3-4 more years. Arum will figure JMM is shot and Pac will definitely knock him out. Then JMM will still school him.

You're Juan Manuel Marquez, you go up in weight to face your greatest rival for a third and in your mind final time. You put everything you have into training camp, you're 37 but you're getting up at 5am to go run. You leave your family at home to come to America and complete your career.

You fight a masterclass, the final bell rings and you're full of joy, your rival knows his lost, the whole world can see it on his face. The judges announce their scores, and you discover you've been robbed, all that work for nothing, so Boxing politics can protect their cash cow.

I wouldn't rematch for 50k and neither would you. Mass opinion is that you won, so you use that to negotiate afresh and get a better deal for yourself.

    Understand?

So i take it the HBO poll the week after the fight was voted on by only Mexicans and JMM fans? It was a landslide for JMM or a draw. I think it was only like 10% of the fans thought that Pac actually won.

I have only watched this fight 3 times. The last time I watched it I got pretty mad because some of those rounds JMM was making Pac look like an amateur making him settle for landing arm punches and the always reliable compu box was counting them as damaging power shots.
That has to be the greatest robbery of all times. Judges, compu box and the commentators were all in on it. It was horrible.

HBO commentary on the 3rd fight was ****ed, their all on the gravy train and their comments influence armchair morons who have no clue what their looking at in the first place. Get off your arse, spend a few years learning to actually box, watch the fight again.
