This is a garbage fight. It's worse than Guerrero (which was a total joke) and I don't think Floyd would stoop that low. 1. Julio f*cking Diaz was landing lead left hooks on him. Floyd does that better than anyone. 2. Khan has speed and reach, but isn't a volume puncher or incredibly accurate. He gets countered by much slower fighters. 3. Khan hasn't earned it. Molina, and barely surviving Diaz? GTFOH. 4. He is chinny as h*ll. Floyd isn't a hammer tosser but Khan has hit the floor 9 or 10 times in his career. Floyd has enough to spark this guy. 5. When Khan gets dropped he has a terribly long recovery time. One of the worst I've seen. You can point to his dominant victory over the slick Paulie but I'm not buying it. I think he matches up poorly against Floyd. I'm hoping he fights Garcia, Lara, Timmy, Pac, Ruslan (those 3 unlikely, I know), hell even Maidana, Thurman or Porter seem like better choices.
If Ortiz and Guerrero happened then this will for sure. Doubt Khan has been inactive for so long for nothing, he's definitely waiting for this big payday since staying active could risk getting him knocked out.
If it's true then there is no way I am paying for it. Anyone who supports a fight like that is supporting the death of, and corruption in boxing. I love the sport of boxing but I can't stand the business side.
The closer it gets the more intrigued many people will be. Sure it's a joke fight but lets be real, it's Amir Khan, everyone wants to see how he performs in this fight. I paid for both Ortiz and Guerrero but admit I never cared about the fights as they got closer but Amir Khan should be entertaining even if it's a complete farce of a fight. This fight will happen and will have a rich undercard to make up for the comedy in the main event.
Ortiz was the #3 WW when Floyd fought him. Only behind Floyd and Pacquiao. This is not just my opinion, this was the mass consensus at the time. Guerrero was the #4-5 WW when Floyd fought him. Only behind Floyd, Bradley, Marquez, and Pacquiao by some. This is not just my opinion, this was the mass consensus at the time. Those were both great fights to make. Guerrero only a good fight on paper, but still... After Ortiz beat Berto all you heard and read about was how there was no way that Floyd or Pac would ever step up to the table to fight someone so young, powerful, and coming off one of the best recent wins in the division. If you say Floyd vs. Ortiz was a bad fight to make on paper or that nobody wanted it, then you are showing that you started following boxing sometime after September 17, 2011.
could be canelo's opponent is what holding this to be announced. or maybe canelo doesnt want to be in the card.
Alvarez already has his PPV dates reserved for the whole year. He fights March 8th and again in July.
To be honest I'd much rather see Khan than Maidana. Khan has a much better chance at winning one round. :yep Plus Khan has already beaten Maidana. A year from now Maidana win over Broner won't look all that good like Ortiz win over Berto doesn't anymore. He beat an overally protected hype job. And when Broner is also stopped by a journeyman like Soto Karass he will be as irrelevant as Betro is now.
Not true at all, Ortiz is crap and c level, no one thinks highly of him(but some *****s/ALT wants to hype him prior to the fight). Same with Guerrero, he is crap.
Khan should have fought Alexander, he would have handled Alexander with ease, won a title & built some momentum for the Floyd fight. Instead he chose to play it safe & is now getting shitted on as an opponent. Wouldn't be terribly suprised if it is Maidana that gets the gig, with Khan vs Porter on the undercard.
