Boxing in the UK plays like 5th fiddle to football (soccer). Football is literally never off the tv or radio, even in it's supposed "off-season", and there's a world cup this year. Boxing will get a mention on a fri/sat afternoon on Sky, but I can't remember the last time it was on the BBC (pro-level) unless it's a major fight.

The vast majority of casual fans in the UK would struggle to name 3 current fighters, and they would all be in the HW division.

I respect FW as a businessman, but he's done next to nothing to raise the profile of the sport over here. Constant PPV's for bull**** cards just means that the casual fan as well as the dedicated followe feel they're being ripped off. Hearn is guilty of this, but in fairness has done a good job of getting Joshua into the public psyche.

The average casual doesn't give a toss how technically sound BJS is, they want to know if he's going to be in a life and death war with a hated rival. Cus d'Amato was spot on about entertaining the crowd.

Long and short is, Eddie has work to do here first. He could really do with a 90's style Benn/Eubank rivalry IMO. Back then, you'd have fighters from near enough all weight divisions appearing on prime-time TV, on shows that were and were not related to boxing.
