Joe Cortez es el demonio de boxeo. Joe debe detenerse y reflexionar sobre lo que están haciendo con el deporte
Cortez took a point away from Hatton for accidently hitting a ring rope, kept Hatton from fighting on the inside, etc., compare Pac's win over Hatton with Void's!
Isn't that just how Mayweather fights? Cautious early on. Figuring out his opponent. The ref really helped Floyd tho.
I disagree. I detest Mayweather, but I enjoyed this fight and thought he turned in an excellent all-round performance. Not that beating Hatton at 147 was any great achievement, Ricky was always a light-welter and nothing more, but I still appreciated Mayweather's display of inside skills, and it was a great finish. One of the better Floyd Mayweather fights/performances IMO.
Of course he didn't. Floyd doesn't have the power or the mentality to try and wipe out a brave guy like Hatton early. Floyd systematically outskilled him, broke him down, and knocked him out late. That's the way he fights and that's what he did.
Overall it was a great performance from Mayweather, but he wasn't as dominant as I first thought. His inside work was impressive (ignoring the elbow, grabbing, etc)...especially when many thought Hatton had the beating of Mayweather on the inside. His subtle right hands to the body, and letting Hatton use up all of his energy trying to unload on the inside, whilst Mayweather took a break was great to watch. But like I said, when I watched it LIVE, I thought Mayweather took control after the 3rd round...in a way you could argue that Mayweather took control after that point because he already knew what Hatton was going to do, and started avoiding the big shots that Hatton was winding up. The rounds were back and forth after that point, but again you could probably argue that the rounds that Hatton possibly nicked on workrate alone...Mayweather was very intelligent in letting Hatton use up all of his energy before unleashing his offense. Mayweather looked unbelievable in spurts, an absolute different class. His offensive work was great, he was dissecting Hatton at times, switching from body to head beautifully. Rounded off with a great finish. He was looking for that left hook all night, he couldn't quite get the timing right because of Hatton's feinting. But yeah, like I said, not as dominant as I first thought. Not a close fight, but not a Mayweather-Gatti type performance either.
