Yes, I like to self harm. People talk about Hopkins's straight right, but I thought the best punch of the fight was Calzaghe's straight left, which won him the fight. Scored it 116 - 111. (1, 3, 10 to Hopkins)
yeah - 9:3(+1) is pretty much the score I invariably get. Have scored it wider to Joe, bit closer but in Joe's favour still, but that's the one I'm most happier with, same rounds as well I think. p.s. - I love the fight, probably my favourite fight of all time.
lol i could never bring myself to watch that again. i applaud your determination. i had calzaghe by 2 pts at the time.
That's a bit wide. I had it even, believe it or not, with Hopkins taking 5 rounds (3 out of the first 5, 10 and another one if I remember correctly), Calzaghe taking 6 and one even. I've watched this fight several times, and the first couple I had it for Calzaghe by a couple of rounds, but I think if you look carefully B-Hop lands more solid and clean punches on the inside, and his straight rights were the only real punches of the fight. It's a close fight, though, and I can understand why you might disagree.
I've got no problem with cards that have Calzaghe winning, but 116-111 is a touch wide. You score it that way, and you are giving a whole lot of credit for ineffective aggression.
I can't put myself through that again, but the couple times I had watched it I had Joe 115-112, give or take a round.
Have you only seen that fight and Taylor vs Spinks? Because that is about the only fight I think it was better than :deal
I had it 7-5 to Calzaghe, with the KD and 10-8 round 114-113. Rounds 1,2,3,4,10 to B-Hop, 5,6,7,8,9,11,12 to JC.
I had it 114-113 for Hopkins. 6rds each with one KD for B-Hop. It was a very close fight with some rounds that were hard to score, 114-113 for Calzaghe might be ok too, depending on how you score fights. I value quality over quantity of punches thrown. Bottom line is, the fight could've gone either way, and there should've been a rematch.
