I saw more fights than almost anyone history

Yes, I have heard Joe Humphries voice many times on the old films of the great fighters he introduced...His voice had a ringing quality and he would also sing in his youth...I also enjoyed Harry Balogh, later on who I saw live a few times in NY...Great voice also..Then later on I liked to hear little Johnny Addie at MSG...They all added to the boxing card....
P.S. I have spoken to a few tenors in opera, and their voices were much deeper talking than when singing arias...

 

A footnote-years ago I was in the home of the retired great Irish Tenor
Morton Downey in Manhattan..We talked about fighters, and Downjhey was a friend of Jack Dempsey...Downey was a great boxing fan, and mentioned to me that his old friend Joe Humphreys could have been a lyrical tenor if he hadn't chosen announcing as a career...b.b.
