    ...During the Pavlik-Taylor countdown.

I saw Jermaine shadow boxing (only a few seconds of footage). Taylor threw a few punches, then he was blocking the (imaginary jab) with his right hand.

Now why is this interesting? Well, as most of us know Kelly sets everything up with the jab.....and the only shot jermain has in this fight is to eliminate Kelly's very effective jab. Maybe the Taylor camp believes that Jermain cannot move his head enough to stay away from that jab, and instead try to block it (with his right hand) and then counter.

At least they seem to have done some of their homework.

I think Taylor is going to try to move a bit, but still engage Kelly....trying to do a ROUND 2 on him the entire time.

Knowing Jermain, even if he's successful with stopping Pavlik's jab, he'll lose focus and STILL WALK INTO A RIGHT HAND.

Pavlik KO mid rounds still.....in a fight that will be exciting while it lasts.

    Nice Avatar, bro..

Yes, I am hoping Taylor would win this time but still Kelly has the bigger chance of pulling out a midround KO.. :)

I wonder how the odds will look by fight time on this fight?

They won't fluctuate much imo. Pavlik at around -180 and Taylor somewhere in the +120-160 range

Interesting thing you noticed there. I never caught that. I really don't think it matters though, because as Steward said himself "Taylor is an instinctive fighter", meaning that when he gets backed up into a corner or hit hard he reverts back to his bad habits

Ok people think about all of the fights you have ever seen and watched or heard about, how many times does a guy that gets ko'ed win the rematch. Thats right less than 5% of the time. Pavlik at -160 is a great bet when taylor only has 1/20 chance of redemption.

Imo it won't make much of a difference.

Pavlik is a very very strong middleweight. One who when he throws that jab it'll shift the right hand just enough to get his own right hand through.

I mean you can do alot to bend, roll the shoulder, duck or deflect in that way. But blocking a right hand with your glove all night isn't gonna work. Eventually something its gonna get through.

If Taylor keeps his guard up and uses his boxing skills he will have a good chance against Pavlik. His skills are slightly better than Pavlik's and he also has faster hands. The problem is for the past two or three years Taylor hasn't been using his skills, for whatever reason. If Taylor performs at his best I am not sure what will happen other than a great fight. If he continues the downward trend, Pavlik will most likely send him home early again.

I agree. We'll see how they are by fight time.

I disagree totally. Taylor does have faster hands, which sometimes is mistaken for better skills.....but Pavlik has the better jab, right hand, uppercut, and left hook.

Taylor's only advantage is hand speed.

imo Taylor has limited skills also. People mix up "physical abilities" with "skills" all too often in this sport. I do think that Taylors power is slightly underrated, but still nowhere near Pavliks. Otherwise, as you said, I can't think of anything Taylor does better than Pavlik aside from hand speed....maybe better at putting combinations together, but thats not saying much for him cause he's not great at it or anything. Pavlik is stronger (mentally and physically), better stamina, heart, straighter and better punches, cuts off the ring better, recovers better, can take more hits,,,,,the list goes on. I would like to say that Taylor moves better, but he always moves in straight lines and that causes him to get tagged, so you can't even give him that one

Pavlik also has much better stamina, younger, hungrier, better chin, stronger, punches very hard, much harder than Taylor. However, he will have to fight the judges. I think the added weight will help Pavlik although Taylor is the one who wants the extra weight.

Neutralizing the jab would be the right thing to do, but Jermain cannot manage that for 12 grueling rounds at a Pavlik pace. One also has to consider a couple of other things here; 1) Kelly is very good at making small adjustments along the way. 2) kelly's corner is very good at telling Pav how to adjust, and Kelly usually does PRECISELY what his corner tells him to.

Ya --right:patsch Is that because so many of Pavlik's fights have gone the distance? Both these guys are freaking monsters with the added weight. Somebody is gettin' carried out!:yep
