This makes sense. I hope goldenboy don't put Khan in with someone like matthew hatton for his first fight at welterweight.
Go back 4/5 years and other than cotto at the time berto and khan were seen as the successors to mayweathers throne, although khan was at 135 he was expected to grow into a welterweight which looks very likely now. Things havn't gone to plan for both fighters and they are both yet to make that step into the elite level of fighters but that opportunity is still there for them. Khan will not take the risks ortiz did so a fight with berto isn't likely as a debut fight at 147 as he will be first given a easier fight on paper (brook/alexander) then either the mayweather fight but if he has to wait then fights with berto and mosley could happen.
I'm not sure Khan beats Peterson, which he has to do first, but I'd watch Berto-Khan, I think its a solid fight. But watch Khan lose on points to Peterson while he continues to daydream about a Mayweather fight, he needs to shut up and take care of business, then worry about it.
I say fighters shouldn't have to jump through ****ing hoops to fight a guy who rarely has fought a proper Welterweight when they were at their best.
It would be an intersting bout. If Khan beats the crap out of Berto, Ortiz stock automatically falls.
Just a feeling I have, not that he shouldn't beat Peterson, that he should do. But something is telling me this might go bad for him. That's all. Khan is a good fighter, not a great fighter yet. I'd prefer to see him less focused on a shot at Floyd and more focused on the task at hand.
just now, i'd rathr see alvarez take on mayweather. kell brook providing he wins next week should be boxing the calibre of berto next. I'd still like to see khan fight jmm depending on how he fares agaisnt pac
