I just watched the fight for the first time in years. Some things I noticed was that Manny wasn't always the aggressor. In a few rounds Marquez did press a little action. He didn't run. Also Marquez wasn't even close to schooling Pacquiao. He slipped a lot of Manny's punches, but Pacquiao put on an exhibition of how to block punches in this fight.

    Here's my scorecard.

    Round 1
Pacquiao comes forward with a 1-2. Lands first decent punch of the fight. Pacquiao slips and then ducks soft Marquez punches. Marquez lands nothing clean, Manny partially blocks just about everthing. Manny landing his jab. Marquez lands solid, but moderately hard right. Some more touch rights from Manny. Marquez lands solid right to the body. 10-9 Manny

    Round 2
Manny very active, controlling the pace, Marquez fighting off back foot. Nice left to the body by Marquez. Solid Right by Marquez. Marquez slipping and dodges punches. Left hook by Marquez. They trade punches, Marquez backs off. Pacquiao with a nice shot to the head. Marquez wobbles Pacquiao with a hard left hook! 20-20 Even

    Round 3
Marquez lands hard right to the head. Manny landing nothing, but soft punches. Marquez slipping masterfully. Manny lands good left, gains Marquez's respect and he backs off. Marquez steps left and counters with a good right. Pacquiao drops Marquez!!!!! 30-28 Manny

    Round 4
Manny comes out and lands solid left immediately. Marquez lands good combo, but Manny just eats it and plows forward with his own shots. Manny hits him with a left, but Marquez comes back right away with his own right. Perfect counter by Marquez, Manny backs off more in this round. 39-38 Manny

    Round 5
Nothing happens in the first minute, but Manny the aggressor. In the second minute still nothing significant happening. Marquez slipping punches, Manny preferring to block. Marquez land the only good punch of the round with an overhead right. Decent left, but Pacquiao. Marquez then lands another good right. 49-47 Manny

    Round 6
Marquez starts out with the decent right to the head. Solid overhand right by Marquez. Manny with a combo to the head. Body shot by Marquez. Right to the head by Pacquiao. Even harder right to the head by Marquez. 58-57 Manny

    Round 7
Good left to the head by Marquez and then a right a few seconds later. Manny lands to the head, Marquez comes back to the body. Good combo counter by Marquez. Manny comes back. Manny lands sharp, fast left. 67-67 Even

    Round 8
Good right hand by Marquez. Really hard left to the body by Marquez. Marquez becomes the aggressor in this round. Marquez tags Manny in the head. 77-76 Marquez

    Round 9
Manny is active to start. Bangs Marquez in the head. Marquez gets countered. Good straight to the head by Manny. Hard right to the head by Manny. Marquez is taking the round off. Marquez becomes active at the end, but Manny gets the better of him. 86-86 Even

    Round 10
Huge left by Manny, staggers Marquez!! Marquez eating punches on the ropes. Pacquiao strafing Marquez. Manny hits him again with a hard left. Another hard left by Pacquiao. Marquez is getting blasted this round. Just about everything Marquez throws is being blocked. Another hard 1-2 at the end by Pacquiao. 10-8 round for Pacquiao. 96-94 Manny

    Round 11
Pacquiao lands a good left. Marquez starting the round timid. Marquez landed a hard right, but Pacquiao just flat out doesn't respect his power at this point. They trade punches in the middle part of the round. Manny just blocking Marquez's punches. Manny lands a fast left to the hand. Another hard punch by Manny to the head. 106-103 Manny

    Round 12
Good right to the head by Marquez. Manny isn't firing away, respecting Marquez's counter punching. Nice counter right by Manny. Marquez lands hard right to the head. Manny looks a little tired. Marquez continuing to the get best of Manny in this round. They both land towards the end as they trade. 115-113 Manny

Gives Pacquiao his second victory over a prime All Time Great Fighter.

I agree. The knockdown was the difference when I scored it. I also gave Pcaquiao another 10-8 round when he staggered Marquez badly and strafed him the entire round.

Of course, because he needed that additional 10-8 round to win, so you made one.

No if I scored it 10-9 it would have been 115-114 on my card. I give 10-8 rounds if somebody is totally rocked and strafed.

Wow, damn we're giving out them 10-8 rounds on nothing because fanboyism now?

Damn, I better rescore my Mayweather/Pacquiao fight.

I think I missed some 10-8's in there. 118-110 might not be wide enough.

Scoring is subjective man. I can see somebody giving a 10-9 round to Pacquiao for the 3rd round even though there was a knockdown. The reason is Marquez was so thoroughly dominating the round before the knockdown.

    COMPUBOX RESULTS - MARQUEZ-PACQUIAO II

TOTAL PUNCHES: Landed- 172 JMM, 157 MP; Thrown- 511 JMM, 619 MP; Pct. 34% JMM, 25% MP.
    JABS: Landed-42 JMM, 43 MP; Thrown- 201 JMM; 314 MP; Pct. 21%JMM, 14% MP.
POWER PUNCHES: Landed-130 JMM, 114 MP; Thrown- 310 JMM, 305 MP; Pct. 42% JMM, 37% MP.

    Overall winner: Juan Manuel Marquez

Pacquiao won the judges' nod based largely on the third-round knockdown, but the CompuBox statistics backed Marquez's assertion that he should have gotten the nod. Though Marquez threw 108 fewer punches (619-511), he landed 15 more (172-157) overall, and the 34-year-old Mexican also amassed a 16-punch edge in power connects (130-114) while throwing just five more (310-305). The only category Pacquiao out-did Marquez was in connected jabs (43-42), but the challenger had to throw 113 more of them (314-201) to do so.

Speaking of damage done, if one broke down solely the power connect totals Marquez would have emerged with the 6-5-1 edge. Marquez won the second (12-9), fifth (10-4), sixth (14-13), seventh (12-, eighth (15-5) and 12th rounds (15-10) while Pacquiao captured the first (8-4), third (9-7), fourth (13-9), ninth (11-9) and 11th rounds (11-10) while the 10th round was even at 13.

    a 10 -8 should only be scored during a standing 8 or a knockdown.
