I meant he isn't close, today, to SRL in his prime, but he can be if he trains and works on his weaknesses.
Even Oscar De La Hoya sees himself in Amir Khan. Here's a few links showing there are some who think Oscar and Amir share similarities. Now show me another nutcase that shares your opinion of the Khan-Leonard similarity. :rofl Is Amir Khan the Next Oscar De La Hoya? This content is protected Oscar De La Hoya Saw Himself in Amir Khan Showing Irrepressible Weakness This content is protected This content is protected "Amir Khan's decision is interesting, and I am not in the least bit surprised. Golden Boy are the new force in world boxing and I think Oscar De La Hoya sees many similarities between Amir and himself."
Please see above I like your enthusiasm for Khan , but to put him up with the greatest fighter I have seen in the last 30 years is insulting to Sugar Ray Leonard.
I don't see many style similarities at all. Leonard was lightyears ahead of Khan right now, so it's not a great comparison.
You haven't been here long enough to know who you are speaking with yet. I could go on about this...but you will eventually you'll learn who posters are, where they live and where they are from..etc. And the fact that you make assumptions....tells me all I need to know about you!!! This had nothing to do with Geography, but the fact you don't know the 7 Countries that make-up Central America, and then include this lack of knowlwdge are part of your thesis of the simularities between Khan and SRL is just down-right HILARIOUSLY SAD!!!
Maybe you'd like to hear it straight from the horse's mouth http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/boxing/6340479.stm SRL: Leonard hailed Khan as being "a huge prospect" and added: "The kid has all the makings, he's the full package." Khan: "I still watch his videos and try and copy some of the things he did in the ring. For him to say I am a special boxer and can be a champion is fantastic." Keep your minds closed, gentlemen, BoxKing out
Nowhere does Leonard say he sees a similarity between Khan and himself. He says Khan is very promising. If you told Leonard to his face that Khan fights like him, he'd probably KTFO of you. :rofl
BoxKing you are raising a good point but a lot of ignorant people don't seem to get the message, the thread only suggests that he is similar in style not in recognition or status. It's not as though he has said Khan is an ATG, it is a fair point and people are just picking on stupid little things
khan has some fundamental flaws naimly his defense and footwork which srl doesnt have. but i do so similarities in there attacking all action style. they both throw fast and like to punch in bunches before retreating out of range. he's the closest thing in current boxing we have to srl.
