I agree to an extent, obviously he is far inferior, as he does not have the power, robustness of a Ray Leonard, or the finishing prowess, inside game etc. What reminds you of Leonard, is the hand speed and combination punching combined. There is something natural about the way Leonard threw punches, like he was naturally born to box, I think, in degrees, you can see that in Khan, although he is miles away from being a complete package like Leonard was.
Nowhere near yet, but speed I see. He could get there. Who knows? Check out the speed in my Sig :deal
Thank you for seeing what I see. I agree completely that he is far inferior, but I feel that with a lot of training and experience, Khan can come close to becoming someone who would be as entertaining to watch as SRL. I should have posted the thread in the morning. At night, it's mostly the riff raff crowd, hence the idiots in the thread :-(
Haven't been through the thread to check the response, but I can imagine what the response was, soon as people here the name Leonard-Khan and in the thread title they auto assume what they want to assume your trying to assert so they can pull you up on it, only I know what your trying to say. :thumbsup
Leonard doesn't come to mind when I watch Khan. (no insult) Leonard was quick but to me his speed wasn't his most amazing asset. His hallmark was that rare combination of elusiveness and a deadly offense. The sloth-like Maidana would have been punching air against Leonard.
Leonard's offense is what made him the fighter he was, not his defensive prowess. I dont think Leonard was that elusive to be honest, not in comparison to a Whitaker, Mayweather. Leonard has more power than Amir Khan, better chin, is capable of fighting from mid range, inside, long range, Khan can only fight from long range, doesn't have the power of Leonard either.
There have been better defensive fighters, yes. There have been better offensive fighters but there's been very few that had both offense and defense like Leonard.
