I see people are already discrediting Loma’s win over Rigo...

    I love how people are quick to forget just how good Rigo is. It’s like they’re trying to pretend that Loma was facing a tomatoe can.

    Rigo, at one time, was considered the most dangerous, avoided, most skilled defensive counter puncher with an extensive amateur background. The fact that Loma reduced an extremely talented fighter like Rigo to look like a complete amateur to the point of quitting is a testament to how great Loma really is.

    And already people are not giving credit for this insane win. The fight with Rigo was so one sided that it should be considered as Loma’s easiest fight. He made such easy work on a fighter that was avoided like the plague as if he was merely a sparring partner. No other fighter could ever do that to Rigo. Rigo still beats 90% of the fighters in his division not named Loma.
    At the end of the day, this should be considered as a LEGITIMATE win, whether you like it or not.

    He still looked sharp and fast. He was just up against a very special fighter. He's not the only one to quit.

    He didn't really use much defensive footwork in that fight and it surprised me. Maybe the angles that Loma was taking threw him off.

    his footwork wouldn't be a match for Loma's. That's pure Loma territory !

    For all we know Lee Selby could have pitched a shut out against Rigo. Valdez could have layed him out for he count. Mikey could have done something terrible to him.

    There's no way to know how good Rigo was at even in his own weight class since his last good win was in 2012.

    Its a good win for Loma but not one that deserves praise to the high heavens. Lamo has to beat top guys in his own weight class and the weight above him to warrant the hype around him.
    Currently he has no top 10 wins at 130 and the 3 guys he fought there are average. Them just the facts

    Or maybe he's just old and can't operate like he used to against younger bigger guys. Manny Pacquiao is the same age and he looked like **** against Horn. Father time is a mother****er.

    The truth of the matter was that Lomachenko needed to fight Rigo. People wanted to see 2 olympic gold medalist fighting each other, plus people wanted to see how Loma could handle a great defender and dangerous counter puncher like Rigo. If Loma fought a Salido rematch instead of Rigo people would have just said he was avoiding Rigo. People perceived Rigo as this threat to Loma prior and the excuses were already lined up the moment the fight was announced. Loma was a in a lose-lose situation. Regardless, Rigo was still a highly rated fighter and a victory over him should still be considered huge.

    It is a legitimate win. It has no barring on Loma's P4P status though, neither did GGG dominating Brook at his natural weight, of Hagler's P4P status beating Duran and Hearns.

    The win itself, I'd expected.

    It was a necessary fight only because so many thought Rigo would win or make it close (polls were way closer than people want to admit now).

    Loma was in a lose-lose scenario because so many of the variables were in his favor, but the win still raised his stock because some of the edges people thought Rigo had, Loma had too.

    Not letting Rigo land one of his big trademark counters is impressive no matter how you cut it. I'd expected some to land even while calling for a Loma win all along. Gamboa and Brook got their big shots in. Rigo, a more precise fighter, couldn't.

    If Rigo was a natural at the weight, he would have landed, he would have been stronger as well, Marriaga is proof of that.

    Nice win on paper, but reality Rigandeaux had everything stacked against him. Hard for me to get too excited over this win.

    Exactly. The manner in which Loma beat Rigo was the most impressive. Having a sharp shooter like Rigo hit nothing but air to the point of frustration without landing anything meaningful is pretty much everything you need to know of the brilliance of Loma.

    I can never look at Rigo the same way again. The image of a badass cuban, whos age is in doubt who talks alot of crap, looks old because he smoked too many cuban cigars, having boxing skills like no other, not once did i think that hes a quitter. Im still shocked

    2 weight classes. Older than dirt. Would you guys give credit to Crawford if he bossed Loma at 140-147 in the next 4 months. No, you’ll list the obvious.
