I see Sergey Krusher Kovalev schooling Ward from the get go, landing the jab at will....

Because I recognize them as global boxing institutions, if you don't then it's fine.

Why do you recognise use them?

Right now I assume you recognise Kovalev as champ.

If he suddenly decided not to pay his sanctioning fees and got stripped, would he no longer be champ in your eyes?

Yes he would no longer be the champ.
I recognize them based on history and what boxing world recognizes.

So you recognise a champion based on his finances?

That makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Of course they do. It's all they care about.

But me, as a fan, I care about the kovalev v ward fight. I wouldn't care any less if they both scrapped the fees and the belt wasn't on the line.

If they wasn't on the line, the fight wouldn't be happening.

And if it wasn't for belts, those guys would be unknown and still fighting in their hometowns and be pretty unheard of. Consider that.

Mayweather v Mosley happened despite Floyd not paying for the belt.

Judah v Baldomir happened despite Carlos not paying for the belt.

Going by your definition, what is the worth of being a champion anyways?

No I'm simply going by the big 4, in my eyes whoever holds the most belts in the division is the champ ( though may not be the man to beat).
Kov holds 3/4 so I consider him the champ.

But if Mayweather v Mosley had never won world titles, that would not have been a big fight, they made their name as multiple time world champions

And if he decides to not pay them suddenly he isn't champ, regardless of what happens in the ring.

    All down to finances.

But does Mayweather's refusal to pay the WBA in any way detract from the victory?

The championship belt plays an important part in a fighters career as it is considered a goal to achieve. It provides recognition and prestige and opens the doors for more lucrative fights or business deals. However, when a fighter has been champion multiple times and is recognized world wide then the belts can't make or break him.
