Cotto goes from barely beating a fighter a decade his senior, to fighting a guy with only 18 victories in 24 fights, from a reality tv show no less. I cant believe I never saw the light. OF COURSE Cotto can beat Floyd Mayweather.

"I only fight who the Company wants me to fight" Thats the kind of guile and personality we all LOVE in a fighter. Only who the company wants him to fight. What heart, what spirit, what determination. I mean Gomez, was such a tough, strong fighter, I cant believe Cotto was able to pull that one out. His skills were on full display last night. I thought outrunning a 36 year old was amazing, but beating up on a journeyman? Wow wow.

Btw, is this the same "Company" from Aliens? Now I can see why he will only do whatever they say. Those were some badmuther****a's! Im generally scared for lil Cotto against Margarito. We all seen how easy it is for him to catch a lucky bunch and be out on his feet. I hope he doesnt let his brilliant victory over Gomez go to his head. :nono

Great points ... I picked Cotto to get upset ... obviously I was wrong - but I can't even imagine Cotto lasting against Floyd.

Why would the best fighter in the world lose to an up and comer ... i'm sure Floyd watched last nights fight ... i'm sure he knows what Cotto is about ... he said on national TV that he'll fight him ... its only a matter of gaining some fans outside of PR and NY.

The nuthuggery is sick ... but Cotto's the last line of defense ... if he doesn't beat Floyd - some boxing fans realistically know that the chances of Floyd losing will be unreal.

he would lose eventually. when he gets old and continue to fight. if he doesn't want to lose, retire now or continue fighting boxers he have beaten already.

Who's to say that he doesn't bow out the game soon? There's no one to fight ...

You don't know **** about boxing ... its cool that you like Cotto ... but you're going to far saying that fighters are paying each other to avoid a fight. That **** makes no sense ...:verysad

The winner of the fight is going to call out PBF ... the fight between DLH and Floyd might be off all together and set aside for a fight between Cotto and PBF.

  Yeah because we all know how nervous Floyd would be to fight Gomez. I mean the horror Floyd most feel at the prospect of fighting such an accomplished fighter like that. I mean, Torres, Corley, Malignaggi, Ndou WOZERS. Those are some tough cans right there. :rofl

Cotto is god? I didnt know God was adept at the chicken dance?

I don't really think Mayweather fans have a leg to stand on when you criticise matchmaking. Which is worse, fighting whoever your promotion puts infront of you or pandering for a rematch with an irrelevant fighter like De La Hoya? Or even a pointless exercise in futility against Hatton?

There's no reason to knock Cotto or his fans. Sure, Gomez was a set-up, but Cotto still put on an "A" performance. As a boxing fan, you can't help but appreciate the skill level at which the guy is opperating. Cotto is a complete fighter. If you're a diehard fan of his, you're definately excited at that performance.

A Mayweather/Cotto fight is now inevitable. Everytime I talk to someone, even a casual fan, about boxing they always mention how they want to see a Mayweather/Cotto fight. HBO is finally pushing for the fight as well. Cotto has more than earned his shot. Mayweather now owes it to the fans, HBO, and most importantly, himself to make this fight happen. If he's smart, he'll make it happen sooner rather than later.

Lets see. fighting Oscar De La Hoya or fighting Gomez. The golden Boy, the Contender boy. An atg, or an never was?

Hmm tough decision. Why hasnt Cotto rematched Mosley? If I was 36 year old and had to chase a 27 year old around the ring for an hour the least he could do was give me another shot?

I never said Gomez means anything, I'm not a Cotto nuthugger. It's only one match, otherwise he's been fighting solid competition

I'm just saying Mayweather fans shouldn't be criticising Cotto for fighting whoever his promotion puts infront of him whilst Mayweather is pursuing matchups no true boxing fan wants to see.

    30mil DLH.... hmmm 2mil Gomez
    DLH 10 time world champion
    Gomez 0 time world champion

Cotto has to build himself up ... right now he's on the same level as Margarito who has proven that he wasn't worthy.
